"This is a fantastic location and place! Lots of young families so it was great for our little one to play. The place is well maintained, the staff were friendly, and it’s a short walk to everything "

"This place was spectacular. It was set in the middle of a forested area and surrounded by wildlife. Also easy access to all the sites in the area. Would highly recommend."

"I didn’t have a good experience with the concierge, Luis. He was stubborn and didn’t give us accurate information we were misquoted on a few things. Another issue is that they don’t spray or treat for mosquitoes, and no one tells you to bring repellent, which felt misleading.
Luis also pressured my husband and me to use an unauthorized vehicle for horse riding. When we asked what would happen if something went wrong, he avoided the question and kept saying that if we didn’t go, we wouldn’t get our money back. Overall, it felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable."
Planet Hollywood Costa Rica by Royalton, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
8/10 Good
"Honest review for Planet Hollywood Costa Rica I would give this resort a 7/10 overall. This was a solo trip for me, and I stayed with the Star Class package. Honestly, I do think Star Class was kind of worth it because all I had to do was text my butler and tell him what I wanted to do for the day or during my stay, and he made it happen immediately. My helper was Ariel, and I absolutely loved him! We even had the same birthday 😭. I booked an excursion last minute, and he handled it right away with no issues. He also got me $50 off at the spa, which I appreciated.
The reason I gave the resort a 7/10 is because, in my opinion, an all-inclusive resort should already include premium top-shelf liquor for everyone. I don’t think guests should have to pay extra or book Star Class just to get premium drinks and better service. That part should come standard throughout the resort.
One thing I did love was that Ariel booked my restaurant reservations every day, which made everything stress-free. The Five Guys burgers there were so good, and the buffet was honestly amazing. I also loved the bartenders they were making me special drinks the whole trip, and I was definitely feeling good 😭. They were friendly, fun, and added to the experience.
As for the restaurants:
* Gusto was a solid 7/10.
* The steakhouse was honestly a 4/10 for me. My steak came out rare when I requested medium rare, and the mac and cheese plus the spinach were not good at all.
* The Mexican restaurant was"
"The RIU Palace is a great destination for travelers who want the access to Costa Rica without the hassle of having to rent their own car, look for places to eat and excursions.
Pros: the food was surprisingly delicious for an all-inclusive, the drinks (as a non-drinker) were also good, the massages at the spa (shout out Hazel) were reasonably priced and amazing! The coffee shop was working overtime! The coffee was to die for! And the mountain views were stunning. Importantly, it is 5 minutes from Diamante Eco Park. The hotel has vans that depart every 30 mins so it was great.
Cons: it was incredibly hot, not the hotel’s fault, just something to note. Guanacaste is an arid area so hotter than other parts of the country. The hotel has a 2000’s look. It is definitely older and it shows. The AC was not super cold, some light fixtures were not working and my shower did not fully drain. The beach was not blue (to be expected given the volcanic sand) but it was not clean either. There were some fruit and garbage scattered throughout. Lastly, LAR is a transportation company located inside the hotel, that took us to Coco Beach. That area was not what we were told AT ALL and when we called for them to pick us up they told us to wait an hour and a half for the next van.
In conclusion, if you want a taste of Costa Rica but you don’t want the “three hour hike” version, do RIU. You’ll have food, great coffee, amazing views, and you can go to the park for a taste of nature."
The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"The Westin Reserva Conchal delivered an unforgettable Costa Rica experience. The resort is absolutely beautiful — lush grounds, a stunning pool, and easy access to a pristine beach that feels both peaceful and energizing. Every part of the property is designed to make you slow down and enjoy where you are.
The food was excellent, with plenty of variety and consistently high quality across every restaurant. Whether it was breakfast, a casual lunch, or dinner at one of the specialty spots, everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The amenities were just as impressive, offering the perfect mix of relaxation and activities.
What truly sets this resort apart is the staff. Every interaction was warm, genuine, and attentive. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and it shows in the small details throughout the stay.
Overall, the Westin Reserva Conchal is a standout destination; beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally well‑run. I’d return without hesitation."
"This a very small property compared to what we are accustomed to. It is beachfront, but you have to cross a public dirt road. Easy access with some vendors, but nothing pesky like Mexico.
The rooms either face the pool or the backsides of the property. There are no direct, beach front rooms. The rooms themselves are a typically sized hotel room, with all of the basic amenities. There is no AI room service offered here.
Food accommodations are offered in an adjacent building, either upstairs during the day or downstairs at night. There is an additional Italian place above the lobby where reservations are asked for. Food quality overall was good. We did notice the tenderness of the steaks to be a little inconsistent but everything else was generally spot on.
There is a pool bar on site, and food can be ordered there and delivered to the bar. The pool bar closes at 6pm.
A couple noteworthy service providers were as follows:
Andy and Douglas at the lower restaurant were always prompt and friendly. We spoke to them at least once every day.
Randall who is the supervisor of Capriccios, the Italian restaurant, was awesome. His team of Nadezca and Jonathan were spot on with their food and drink preparation. Randall himself knows how to work the room, even when things went a little askew. This man is going places and is an asset to the company for sure.
Overall, a generally chill vibe in the place, never competed for poolside lounges and good service."
