Brilliant place to stay

We stayed two nights the room was clean and comfortable. The food was amazing and well presented and the staff was so friendly and went out of there way to help. Would definitely stay again

Lovely stay!

The room was perfect with great countryside view. The dinner at the restaurant was amazing. The breakfast was also excellent. Great experience!

We loved this hotel for its character and history. The setting and the views were lovely and our room was very comfortable. The food was delicious and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. I feel sure we will return.

Lovely, well proportioned rooms. Not all of this type of large house ever get warm and comfortable, but even with the very poor Autumn weather we found it to be most comfortable and warm. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the food was well presented and of an excellent standard.

Relaxing

It was a nice hotel, with lovely views and the staff were friendly, only down side was food as I travelled for business and had to settle for a sandwich and crisps from the local petrol station. Once this hotel is back to normal it would make a nice romantic stay.

Food was excellent. receptionist was welcoming. Rooms in need of redecorating, furniture was marked,cobwebs on ceilings and fittings,dirty carpets and walls,tv did not work. Restaurant staff were young and inexperienced.

Just a one night stay, it is a very quiet location.... the extremely noisy plumbing when the toilet was flushed was a huge distraction however. Also, I wasn't impressed with gratuity that was applied on check out. Overall acceptable.

Mixed - but staff were amazing!

The staff were amazing. Couldn't do enough for you. However, the hotel should have stayed shut as it was not fully operational. No restaurant, no proper breakfast even though it was advertised at booking. Just a bag of stuff put on the doorknob rather than a nice leisurely Yorkshire fry up. No cancellation allowed and didn't find out about until after booking. Some work needed on the building too. Although Bedding and towels were excellent quality and cleanliness

Don’t add tip to bill £13 was terrible

After choosing carefully the best value I was upset to ha ve £13 added to my bill for tips .it was definitely not what i wanted after having dinner and a bottle of wine

Not a great stay

A lovely setting and nice sized rooms but had a dreadful night sleep. We were in room 8 and it wasn't until bed time we found the mattress on the right hand size totally collapsed and flat. Also, the shower head was filthy. We told the receptionist upon checking out and she did speak with the manager who gave us a small amount off the bill. Also, be aware they add £10 onto each room cost as a tip for the staff. I asked for this to be removed and they did but really not happy that they have chosen to do this. It was a real shame as we were so looking forward to staying here. The receptionist did say housekeeping would look into the things we raised, so hopefully this will be resolved for the next guests.

Short Stay

The hotel entrance was fantastic. This led into the reception entrance where we were greeted by a very friendly reception person. We were told where our room was as it was very close. The room was great - four poster bed with fantastic views. The room was very nice and clean. Gifts and towels laid out which was appreciated.

Regular visitors.

We have been staying at this hotel for many years. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting various towns and villages in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks. All rooms are individual and spacious. The food and service is very good. We always enjoy our stay and we will be back again soon.

Wonderful property and the team is exceptionally hard working. beautiful grounds and the house is amazing to stay in Breakfast was a breakfast bag as their kitchen closes Mon-Wed. We were hoping to have dinner at times. The team tried to do their best and we can see they were trying their best to add a personal touch.

Business stay

Clean and comfortable stay. I stopped in a standard double which had plenty of room and was clean, with a very good WiFi connection. Bed was comfy and had all the amenities required. Staff very accommodating and the evening meal was lovely, they brought it to my room so I could get some more work done. Breakfast was also very good with a range of continental and cooked. Couple of negatives the carpets through the hallways could do with replacing or a very good shampoo. Had to wait at checkout for the receptionist to arrive at prime time, who then tried to charge me again for my room rate even though I had payed up front with hotels.com. Who then proceeded to tell me they don’t use hotels.com. Left her with a photo of my electronic receipt and told to take up directly with hotels.com. Other than this had a very pleasant stay, with lovely food, parking and accommodating staff. I would stop again.

Disappointing stay May 21

I booked Solberge hall after viewing images of large rooms, big beds, baths inside the rooms and was expecting a luxury stay. When we arrived we were greated by a man wearing a tracksuit, who was friendly and helpful but didnt look very professional. The car park was all but emtpty and i dont believe that there could have been many other guests. He should us to our room, which as it turned out was one of the smallest in the hotel (after reviewing the fire escape drawing). The bed was a double, but not the 4 poster advertised, and the room had been left with 1 towel, and 1 cup for tea/coffee (the gentleman on reception did replace these at our request). The bed was not only tiny but also uncomfortable, coupled with fact that the heating was left on all night... the window had to be wedged open with a spare toilet roll to get some fresh air in. The next morning and after being told the restaurant hadnt reopened after lockdown, i was still expecting to receive a decent breakfast. We were served 2 brown bags containing a small carton of orange juice, a yogart, a cereal bar and a dry croissant in a packet. This was a very poor after being fully charged for breakfast. After my disappointing breakfast i went for a shower. The water dribbled out from the shower head which looked like it had seen better days. I had booked the hotel as a treat for my girlfriend, and as we have decided to return to the area on a new date we can categorically say we won't be staying at Solberge hall
