"I love old things, so The Menger Hotel has been on my list forever. And yes—it’s beautiful. But she comes with quirks. Valet was friendly, but no one mentioned you have to respond to a random, non-local text and enter payment info to get your car back. So when we’re trying to leave for dinner? Delay. Because my fiancé doesn’t click mystery links (as one shouldn’t). You can charge it to your room—would’ve been great to know upfront. Walking in? Stunning. Antique everything, historic photos, total time capsule vibes. Then you hit the front desk… and the energy drops. Check-in was awkward, they couldn’t find our reservation (it was there), and the vibe was very “this is your fault somehow.” Not rude, just not welcoming. Room 3067: clean, decent size, nothing special. Bed was comfortable. Partial courtyard view, partial rooftop. Fine. Now the “old hotel” realities: Room was muggy, even with AC low Bathroom is tight (my 6’1” fiancé struggled) Shower is basic and takes forever Flush a nearby toilet? Enjoy your surprise ice bath A few extras: Dirty plate in the hallway for over a day One lamp didn’t work Pool location remains a mystery The bar is cool, service is… consistent with the rest of the hotel (present, not warm). Location is right in the tourist area—convenient but busier than we prefer. Final take: The Menger Hotel is gorgeous and worth experiencing if you love historic hotels. Just don’t expect modern comfort or standout service."

"Breakfast was fresh, but the upper level rooms (had to switch multiple times) had an issue with hot water. Cleanliness was not the worst, but sheets had old visible blood stains, hairs left in sink, and yellow rings around toilet. Charging ports by bedside were too wide for any normal phone chargers. "

"Clean, comfortable room and good location. However, it advertises that it has a bar and restaurant, which it did not. They served a good buffet breakfast but I chose this place partly because we like to have a cocktail at the hotel bar before we go out or when we return. The response of the receptionist was “we used to have one”. So it doesn’t sound like a temporary situation. They need to change the description of their amenties. "

"It is a very nice property with a lot of amenities. My only 2 issues (very small...) are that the toilet in our room rocked back and forth and the hot water is not very hot. Shower was warm but not hot."
