Bonjour, Nous avons dû écourter notre séjour à l'hôtel Mendi Alde en raison de prestations non conformes à celles mentionnées sur l'annonce. En effet, chambre bruyante donnant sur une route très passante, y compris la nuit. De plus, la chambre était très mal insonorisée permettant d'entendre les voisins et engendrant des réveils multiples, ajouté au fait que la toiture de l'établissement était en rénovation dès le matin. Enfin, sur le palier de la chambre, on pouvait voir une chambre mitoyenne en travaux jonchée de décombres et pleine de poussière. Lorsque nous avons annoncé notre décision de quitter l'hôtel prématurément, la directrice de l'établissement a été fort désagréable et inconvenante. Vous trouverez en pièces jointes des photos permettant d'illustrer tous nos désagréments. Cette déconvenue a bien entendu impacté le bon déroulement de nos congés.

Verouderd maar net hotel met lekker eten :-)

Op terugreis van een roadtrip in Spanje/Mallorca, hebben we hier 1 nacht gelogeerd. Het hotel ligt op een steenworp van St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port (een Middeleews stadje nabij de grens met Spanje) en nabij een van de mooiste routes van de tour de France (aanrader met de auto of fiets). Het hotel is groot maar verouderd. De spa (sauna/zwembad/stoombad) is eenvoudig maar wel netjes verzorgd. De kamers waren eerder eenvoudig te noemen, maar hadden wel het comfort dat van een slaapkamer verwacht word. Het avondeten was bijzonder lekker. De gebruikte producten komen trouwens allemaal van lokale handelaars/boeren/... en deze kwaliteit proef je wel! Het ontbijt 's anderendaags bestond eveneens uit verse, lokale (bio-) producten en dat weten wij wel te waarderen! Over het ontbijt en diner kunnen wij geen opmerking bedenken. De bediening aan tafel alsook de hulp aan de receptie (begeleiding naar de kamer, hulp voor autoroute, de "goeiemorgen",...) was bijzonder vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Déception

Ne mérite pas ses 3 etoiles Salle de bain d'une autre époque vétuste et microscopique surtout la douche où on se cogne en se lavant et impossible de s'y essuyer car minuscule. Lit petit avec une couverture en laine (pas très hygiénique) Pas de plan d'évacuation en cas d'incendie dans la chambre ni de détecteur incendie . Un seul menu à 33 euros avec des produits bons mais simples donc trop cher! En revanche un excellent petit déjeuner avec de très bons produits frais et maison Les propriétaires sont charmants et pensent bien faire ils méritent d'être encouragés mais il faut améliorer certains points négatifs surtout les salles de bain !!

La chambre était correcte , de petite superficie.La porte coulissante entre chambre et salle de bains ne fermait pas très bien. Je n'ai pas apprécié que le menu à 33€ soit imposé pour le diner , pas d'autre choix. La serveuse est charmante et très accueillante, un plus pour l'hôtel. L'équipement des chambres et de l'hôtel étaient assez moyen;

Rural base in Paye Basque with good accessibility.

Mendi Alde is actually a collection of buildings which make up the hotel in the pleasant Basque village of Osses. The restaurant provides a good standard of cuisine, with outdoor areas onto a garden as well as a bar. The price of the stay was quite expensive - the most of any of our touring stops along the Pyrenees - but this may reflect the popularity of Paye Basque, particularly in July. Osses is situated in a flat valley bottom surrounded by tall hills and within short striking distance of the higher mountains and the Spanish border, as well as a comfortable drive to the coastal resorts. It is quite idyllic in its situation but appears also to be on a busy local commuter route, despite its very rural disposition. be careful when walking along the 'main' road - cars can suddenly appear from around the corner! We also visited some local villages - the architecture resembles Switzerland more than France and the Basque churches are unique internally. St-Étienne and St-Jean-pied-de-port are hill towns well worth visiting 30 mins drive away. If you are travelling eastwards from there you must take the high road through Esterencuby and through the Foret d'Iraty towards Larrau. The scenery is stunning, although the road is narrow and steep at times. Try to take the little road south through St-Jean from Arneguy on the French side - you follow a narrow valley with Spain within spitting distance on the opposite side. Magical.

Un hôtel plein de charme, avec un accueil chaleureux, des chambres spacieuses et un spa décoré avec goût et raffinement. Il faut ajouter à cela un excellent restaurant avec une superbe vue sur le très joli jardin et les montagnes. Une excellente adresse à découvrir et apprécier. Nous y reviendrons sans aucun doute.
