"Wonderful place to stay, with extra touches to make our stay special. Accommodation was clean and comfortable with plenty of space, with a balcony offering beautiful views over Bay of Islands. Excellent location for getting to quay fir boat and ferry trips and within walking distance of Waitangi Treaty Grounds. (Although the steep walk back up hill after a day out is quite tough...but view was worth it). "

"We stayed for 1 night only in early October. The 2 bedroom apartment was excellent. The bathrooms and kitchen were very clean and tidy, as was the lounge area. There was ample parking in the basement area. The walk to the township of Paihia was along the sea-shore and was very pleasant, and close to the ferry terminal where we caught the ferry to Russell."

"Haka Lodge reflects its past as a YHA hostel with all the facilities and ambience of the youth hostel which encourages interaction with other guests. We were impressed with the helpfulness and pleasantness of the staff in answer to our questions about Paihia and Russell. The facilities are clean, well kept and presented. "

"Excellent. Very convenient. Room was spacious and well-equipped. Staff was very nice. We actually couldn't make it for the first night because of a change in plans so we tried to contact the hotel but couldn't get through. When we arrived the next day, we did not get any funny looks or stares. We just got the same nice, courteous service we would expect. Plus, the location cannot be beat. Right on the beach. You can literally see the ocean from here! And feel that nice sea breeze wafting through...

"Property run by elderly couple, who are super friendly and accommodating. Rooms are excellent with spacing and amenities. Walking distance to Wharf. Check the conditions before booking with Wotif. Rooms are priced for 2 people and $25 us charged for extra person which was not clear stated by Wotif while booking. otherwise wonderful experience of staying here. "
