Remains a unique oasis and a truly wonderful place. All the more remarkable given the contrast with its unashamedly trashy surroundings. You feel like you're in a different world. The gardens are beautiful, the pool clean and delightful. The rooms are luxuriously appointed, the bed huge and comfortable, everything atmospheric. Needless to say, all the staff are invariably charming and accommodating. If I have one tiny criticism, there's a bit too much of the corporate greenwashing messaging: the hotel information folder has been consigned to Google Drive for my "safety and convenience"... well, actually, the impact on my safety is literally zero and it's less convenient. I'd also have preferred some nice bath oil for the tub – there was just some pretty ordinary liquid soap and shampoo, although there were several notices inviting me to use less of everything in order to save the hotel's money... excuse me, I mean save the planet.
These minor (and sadly pretty universal) irritants notwithstanding, it's still just about my favourite hotel on earth, for its deep, low-key luxury and otherworldly calm.
