#conimbriga #ruins #roman As Ruínas Romanas de Conímbriga são um dos maiores sítios arqueológicos de Portugal e ficam situadas a cerca de 17 Km da cidade de Coimbra. A região era já povoada desde os tempos pré-históricos mas foi a partir de 139 a. C. que foi ocupada pelas tropas romanas tornando-se então a próspera capital da província da Lusitânia. Destaque para a Casa dos Repuxos com os seus mosaicos, Forum, templo e termas. As ruínas estão classificadas como Monumento Nacional. Na área existe o Museu Monográfico de Conimbriga que contém exclusivamente achados destas ruínas. The Roman Ruins of Conímbriga are one of the largest archeological sites in Portugal and are located about 17 km from the city of Coimbra. The region was already settled since prehistoric times but it was from 139 a. C. that was occupied by the Roman troops becoming then the prosperous capital of the province of Lusitânia. Highlights are the House of the Repuxos with its mosaics, Forum, temple and thermal baths. The ruins are classified as National Monument. In the area there is the Monographic Museum of Conimbriga which contains exclusively finds of these ruins.
