The low rating is primarily due to issues with cleanliness, as this is an aspect that should not be compromised, regardless of whether the accommodations are budget-friendly. We arrived quite late, after midnight, having previously notified the hotel of our late arrival. Our intention was to stay only for a few hours to obtain some much-needed rest before resuming our journey, so seeking alternative accommodation would have significantly reduced our rest period. Or, I should say, my husband's rest period, as after the final disappointment, I found myself unable to sleep. I kept the lights on to keep watch.
The room simply was not clean.
1. There was hair present on the towels and sheets.
2. The sheets appeared stained or soiled.
3. The sheets looked dingy.
4. There were leftover food items in the microwave. I only discovered this because the microwave display was flashing. I was too apprehensive to inspect the refrigerator.
5. Dried urine on the toilet seat and outside surface of the bowl.
6. Hair found on bathroom counters, in the shower area, and on top of communal shower soaps.
7. Woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, only to be greeted by a live, full-size roach scurrying near my feet! Then, while searching for it, I found a tiny baby roach.
