Absolutely beautiful room, pool and view. Great sunset watching from the pool, saw Myna birds, a kingfisher, swallows, sunbirds and at dusk beautiful fruit bats all from our private pool terrace. The room was so peaceful, the plunge pool was a decent size and beautifully clean.
The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. We hired the hotel's scooter and side car for a couple of days and were able to tour the island and take in the sights as well as travelling at night to go to a nearby restaturant. The whole island is fabulous for scenery, lovely friendly local people. There were other tourists but not at all crowded and all of the beaches were pretty quiet - albeit we were there at peak season.
Boat trips and excursions were available to book from the hotel or there were roadside huts that you could book from. We had a private long boat four island tour booked from the hotel which was good value, we had a great day with snorkeling and lunch included. Purana is on the West coast which is a quieter area and you need transport to get around to explore (unless you're happy to walk a way in the heat). They also hire out mountain bikes and normal scooters from the hotel
