It’s true, there is no better location and no better hospitality. The Tides Inn remains the only waterfront hotel in Port Townsend.

A weathered look to our wooden decks is a waterfront characteristic of the more rustic Original Tides Hotel rooms option. The more modern choice of the Tides Premium rooms would offer all of the features you enjoyed as well as a more contemporary experience.

We don’t always expect full scores in our guest reviews, but we humbly note that these have become more common than not. We greatly appreciate you expressing your satisfaction with your stay.

There are two experiences offered at the Tides; the Original Tides (where you stayed this visit) and the more upscale and modern Tides Premium Suites. It appears as though there was an easily resolved reservation issue that developed into something unnecessarily complicated. Quaint is nicely descriptive of the accommodations of our Original Tides Hotel. Guests who wish a more modern hotel experience with many extra amenities should ask about our newer Premium rooms, which all have ocean-front views of course.

The original Tides Hotel dates from the late 1940’s and that part of the inn retains very much the rustic atmosphere, experience and feel of a seaside motor hotel of that era. Guests will be pleased and reassured to know that the rooms were completely updated in 2021-22.

A low scored review of a guest stay is always concerning. I regret that there are no other details and equally am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.

I apologize that I was not present for your arrival as I am certain I could have mediated the negative beginning of your stay.

A great room with a world-class view and close to everything.

I expect your arrival was after the front desk had closed for the night, which in our case is at 10pm. Late in the evening, we had not heard from you and were not able to reach you by telephone to coordinate a “key-drop” for after-hours arrivals such as yours. I regret the poor experience and wish better information could have avoided almost all of the unpleasantness.

I hope you will return and please allow us to work with you in order to offer you the room-type you have enjoyed in previous visits. There are both older and newer sides to the Tides Inn and many room variations.

Although the Original Tides Hotel side of our property was, in 2022, completely renovated (as were the newer Premium Suites) the original architecture of it's era remained a compromise. Yes, the renovated bathrooms look great - but still small.

I am very sorry that my set standards of service and hospitality were not met. Training will be addressed and we will work to ensure a more than satisfactory stay for your next visit.

I have asked maintenance to to inspect and repair any problems with the bathroom fixtures within the room in which you stayed. The bathroom doors within the guest rooms do not have a lock.

You may have missed it as the color is black on black, but there are phone chargers and electrical outlets in the nightstands by the bed.

I wish there were more restaurants in Port Townsend that featured a waterfront setting, but this can be forgiven as the dining experiences here are quite exceptionally good.Of course, your ocean view Tides Inn room will be right on the water’s edge.
