"I've stayed at Old Silk Appartments twice so far in apartments 8 and 9. Both I found spotless, white soft towels, comfy beds, tastefully decorated well maintained and adequately appointed. Large fridge freezer, 4 ring hob oven and microwave, basic set of kitchen utensils and a couple of pans adequate to cook something simple. "The second time we have stayed. We booked because of it's close proximity to the NEC for a weekend event. The staff are excellent. Always welcoming, friendly and incredibly helpful. It makes a big impact on the stay and is the reason we have returned. There is a big car park with free parking. The communal areas are kept very clean. So too are the bedrooms. Unfortunately the hotel does require some TLC. There was peeling wallpaper in the bedroom and the fixtures in the bathroom were tarnished and quite outdated. The shower is not suitable for anyone above 5ft6! You have to crouch to get underneath it. There is no aircon in the rooms and the windows do not open further than a few inches (due to safety locks), which restricts air flow in the room. Not ideal when we visited at one of the hottest times of the year. There was a desk fan in the wardrobe, which we used overnight. It was better than nothing, but obviously not ideal. Rooms are spacious and the beds are super king (2 singles together), which were very comfortable. Tea/coffee/biscuits and bottled water are provided in the room and replenished daily. The breakfast is buffet style. Vast selection, with some things available in addition on request. Staff constantly monitor food levels and ensure things are available for guests. Cleaning is continuous and it's the tidiest breakfast buffet I've ever been to! Have not used bar/restaurant, so cannot comment. Overall it's a great place. Would be excellent if updated."

Walton Hall Hotel & Spa by Sunday

"I had booked a weekend for my parents in one of the superior rooms in the main house. When they checked in they were informed of where to park outside the main house. As we drove round there were a variety of barriers preventing us from parking, we were then informed that we would not be allowed to park as there was a wedding happening the following day. We were informed to park a distance from the main house and my parents to walk further (disabled parking was unavailable). My father, who struggles to walk and is 82 was left expected to walk much further than he was cable of. The folllowing evening when I dropped them back at the hotel only to find out that they were directly over the wedding evening, and could not sleep because of the noise. They were moved rooms but this added to a later than they were usual too late night. At no point were we informed that there was a wedding event, They were due to leave the following day at 0630 to travel back to Ellesmere Port to miss traffic. My father after this ordeal slept the rest of the afternoon (which is unlike him). I feel the whole experience has been completely ruined and the communication and sympathy and understanding very lacking. At this stage, I would not recommend. We expect a call to discuss from the venue and hope their reaction will amend our extreme disappointment."

"Lovely 2 night stay, great value via Expedia. Was in the area for a concert at Warwick Arts, visits to Kenilworth Castle and Stoneleigh and proved ideal location. Not at all snooty or stuffy like some country hotels. Clean modern bathroom, comfortable bed, good breakfast, pleasant walks from hotel, well equipped gym. Lots of hotels in this area, glad we chose this one."

"Avoid - overpriced, lots of add ons and service poor. Better value at other hotels nearby. Extra cost if you arrive an hour early Extra cost to use gym ( not highlighted anywhere) Slow service lunch - over 45 mins for food to arrive Breakfast was a mess - no staff - dirty tables - food low.chaotic and poor experience. "

"Staff were all really lovely and helpful - family room was a great size with two large double beds and clean in general (although the carpet was sticky!!) pool facilities were small but nice just hard to get booked in due to it being popular but we managed one swim (remeber your £1 for the locker). We stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting the space centre and Cadbury world and it was the perfect half way base for this. The hotel itself is really big and there were a number of conferences happening whilst we were there but this didn’t affect us (ie noise etc) overall great stay and we will hopfully be back again as we have friends down south and this will be a great halfway point to meet up!"
