This is a hostel. All you get is 4 walls, a door and a bathroom. It is near the ferry docks and in the middle of downtown. Great for island hopping. There is nothing to do in the hostel than sleep the night over. Privacy is limited, amnesties non-existent.
Great location. Unfortunately we were wary about the cleanliness and security of the place.
We left for our daily excursion and I had forgotten something so went back to the room to find the owner and 2 men inside. They explained that they were planning a new roof in the room, and weren't apologetic at all. Advance notice should have been given, and the owner seemed very entitled and arrogant about the whole thing.
Apart from that there was a big hole in the screen where someone could reach in and open the door from the inside. There were bars on one window, but not on the other which could be opened from the outside.
Strangely we were asked to check out the rooftop view, but to get there we had to duck under some sheet metal and squeeze by piles of construction material to find an unfinished concrete roof scattered with hazards and someone's lone hammock in the corner.
There was free (with your tip) water given in the common area, and even though we gave tips daily, it was always out and we had to go buy a new jug ourselves. Coffee was also free, though, nice touch!
The couches were covered with a curtains that hadn't been washed for awhile. There was a really gnarly sponge in the kitchen, better not include one at all.
I understand it's the tropics, but many small cockroaches in the kitchen & bathroom indicate an infestation. Not a good look. There are plenty of better options in the area for the same price.
