The bungalows are so charming and spread out. Breakfast options were nice. Beach is right across the street. Indian restaurant is tasty with vegetarian options. The only note is there is no air and it is hot and rather humid. For me from Florida it was fine and pleasant with ceiling fans but if you like it cold be aware.
Horrible stay. This place is severely overpriced. Out of the 4 places I stayed at in this area, this was the most expensive and the worst stay. No hot water, 1 towel, it was cold (luckily I had a sweater with me which I slept in) and I got woken up at 5 am by monkeys. I should have stayed at my previous hotel another night
We stayed in a very nice bungalow with wonderful porch/terrace to enjoy the sounds of, and was very private. The dining room was very big, and beautiful wood. We had hoped for entertainment shown on webpage, but not available. The staff was very helpful and friendly, except for the unfriendly, bad attitude man at front desk; this is a key position & needs a caring, helpful person to fulfill customer needs. The owner was a very gracious man, and we so appreciated his caring for our comforts.
We had two nights booked for a bungalow and we knew going in that it would be more rustic lodging than other destinations, since Puerto Viejo is a more laid-back vibe. However, our bungalow was nothing like the pictures, so do not expect your bungalow to look anything like the pictures. When we went to take showers the first night, the hot water did not work. So I went to the front desk and asked for someone to help. The young lady at the desk said that he would stop by in 5 minutes. When 45 minutes went by and it started to get later, I stopped by and told them that he still had not come, she went in the back and said loudly that I was crying about not having hot water.
First of all, I did not cry so I do not appreciate her snarky attitude. Secondly, hot water is not a big request when you are paying $130 a night for a bungalow. Her comment was unprofessional and unnecessary. The following day, friendly workers tried to fix the water all day but it was clear to use that this was an existing problem that was not able to be repaired. They had no other bungalows available, so we packed up our things and left early for the next leg of our trip. When we asked to refund the second night, we were told it was not possible.
The bungalows needs improvements, no TV, no amenities, some parts of the roofs are falling down, the beds are so unconfortable and the pillows had a bad smell (like humid), I don't think we will go back there.
Wonderful jungle location in a quiet part of town. Very clean and cared for. Easy accessible to go into town by bicycle or quick taxi ride. Many food options in town and near hotel. Beach was red flag but beautiful
Upon arrival I was greeted by Minerva at the front desk who was extremely welcoming.
After letting us know all the important information about the premises and their services we were treated to a wonderful welcome cocktail.
Breakfast was included and was terrific! The coffee was great as well.
This is my second time staying at La Costa de Papito and I will definitely be back!
Keep it up!
seemed like a place that was nice several years ago but they have let it go over the years. mold growing over all the cabins and they have alot of standing water bringing in so many mosquitoes that we couldn't enjoy the patio. the cabin roof also had leaks and dirty floor. their restaurant was also a joke! $15 for an elaborate chicken breast by itself with no sides... but even if i wanted it they were out of it and many other menu items. theres a reason no one came to dinner despite the local restaurants being pretty crowded. the owner also charged me twice $130 for the night but did refund me after numerous annoying emails. about the only good thing i can say about it was the night receptionist was very friendly and helpful with activities. but do yourself a favor and avoid this place that would be better suited as a $25/night hostel and go to Le Chameleon. same price but a 100x better.
We stayed in a nice bungalow on the property during the off season. One of the best beaches is located 5 minutes walk from it. The staff is very nice and the rooms are well equipped with the essentials. The breakfast was just ok.
welcoming staff. Beautiful grounds. Close to the beach.

Nice but with concerns
Nice place more in jungle than on beach. Toilet did not flush properly and it rained in making the paper and my toilet stuff wet. Breakfast not so good. Wifi in room but was bad connection.
