"Overall the hotel was clean and staff friendly. The breakfast area was a tight squeeze and guests had to take food to their rooms or sit in the lobby. I would suggest an area that seats more than 20."

The Herondale Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The Good: This place has an amazing view of the Bay and you can see the ships and the bridge off in the distance on the water. We could hear the sea lions barking from our balcony. Even the view at night when it's dark is pretty cool. It's also nice to be able to sit out by the firepit or dip in the jacuzzi. The staff was very helpful. We didn't arrive until late at night but there was a number for me to call to receive instructions on how to get my room key and access my room. No real hassles or delays even though I arrived at almost midnight. The room was good size. There were monogrammed robes for us to wear. Plenty of towels and other amenities you expect to find. They even had a pair of binoculars for us to use to try and get a closer look from our balcony. The average: The only real thing I can honestly say wasn't great was the shower water pressure. Perhaps it is an eco-friendly type thing for water conservation purposes, but I felt like my showers took a little extra time because I had to wait for enough water to hit me to rinse off. Overall a great place to stay, would totally stay here again the next time we visit the area."

Hampton Inn and Suites Astoria

"Parking was free. Staff was great. Breakfast nice. Our room was clean. Loved having laundry facilities. Green grocers and Safeway near by for other food items. The Astoria Column is worth the visit up to the top. SISU local restaurant had excellent food. We always try to get Hampton Inn’s when we travel. Bonus the sea lions barking was just a funny that we loved hearing. The balcony facing the water and greenway was also very nice. We stayed for 3 nights."

"We didn’t get notice ahead of time that there were parts of the place that were under construction. It wasn’t a huge inconvenience, but we were taken aback as we arrived at the unfinished floor on the balcony and the upside down bathtub in one of the bathrooms. Also, while the main living areas were spotless, when opening the windows for some air, it was clear the window wells/tracks hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. We loved the decor of the place—very fitting with the time of the house. The hosts had kindly placed the movie “Goonies” in a visible spot and we enjoyed it our first evening, having seen that the film was made in Astoria. The other issue was that there was no information about how to login to the internet service anywhere in the place. It may have been in much earlier information sent via email, but I couldn’t find anything either in email messages or in the home. Fortunately I could use my phone as a hot spot."
