Absolutely fabulous hotel! Fantastic location, right in the centre of things - about a hundred yards from the Freedom Monument and within easy walking distance of all the central attractions. We received a very warm welcome from hotel staff and were allocated a beautifully decorated room. Plenty of space and facilities in the room and bathroom - very comfortable bed too. The breakfast room was bright and airy, with a nice buffet selection and a choice of cooked breakfasts from the menu - the staff were very friendly and efficient and spoke good English. The hotel is situated on a very lively square with bars and live music but once in our room, we couldn't hear a thing from outside. We will happily return to this gem of a hotel on our next visit to Riga!

A wonderful stay

Clean, convenient and comfortable. The Relais Le Chevalier is a great place to stay. Right on a lovely and popular square don’t worry about noise. The staff was welcoming and always available. The room was spacious and elegant but with all the modern conveniences. The bathroom was big and very practical.

Great location but horrible situated toilet

We enjoyed our stay very nice location. Hotel is well maintained very French. We asked for a wake up call for 6am on day of departure but never got one. No window. The toilet in our bathroom was about 8 inches from the wall very poor design. We had to sit sideways as thee was no room for legs. Think they should have a work with theur plumber. The worst we have encountered not amused!!

The Ala carte menu had only few optionsa and was otherwise poor. The breakfast was not up to the standard of the hotel. The breakfast room staff was not very professional. But they were friendly and nice.

Of course, it's a very nice hotel. But, two gripes - one, the curtains give way too much light from the inner courtyard. And, two, our package included free drink. We (my husband and I) were told we could choose from a glass of beer, a glass of prosecco, or coffee. We went for prosecco. We were offered ONE glass - to share between us, I was told. Nope, we could not have a glass each. I guess it would have been one cup of coffee, too...

Very nice new hotel. ‘Small but tall’ with very stylish interior. Some rooms have no external windows but instead view out in to lift lobby area, still nice effect with lower ceilings.

Whilst the property was clean and centrally located there were two issues I had with it which resulted in me docking a star. The first was the fact that the rooms have no windows facing outside, but instead a window facing into the inner section of the hotel. I knew this before arriving so this wasn't the issue. The problem this created was the lights are always on inside and the curtain over the internal "window" wasn't a black-out curtain, so when trying to sleep there was quite a lot of light coming into the room even with the curtain drawn. The second issue was the aircon. They provide extensive instructions next to the wall unit on how to change the temperature however it never seemed to "stick". Speaking to reception it turns out the temperature is controlled centrally for the whole building. When I was there when it was quite hot (and I prefer a cooler room to sleep) this meant it was always quite warm in the room. Both these issues combined meant I didn't sleep particularly well. I'm aware that having the room dark and cool is a personal preference which is why I only knocked off 1 star but if you're the same as me, then be aware of this.

Amazing stay in Riga! Definitely recommend and worth the money to book this accommodation. I will definitely be back to staying here in the future. It is conveniently located in the heart of the Old Town. If you’re a solo traveler and are wanting some place safe and comfortable and inviting this is the place. I had no second thoughts about my safety or security. Staff was amazing and accommodating, I don’t have any complaints or criticisms for the hotels services or staff. Everything was perfect!

This hotel is in an 18th century building on one of the main squares of the old town. The hotel and its surroundings are very picturesque. Our suite had a panoramic view of the old town (although most rooms are arranged around an interior atrium). The staff were consistently helpful in arranging airport transfers and restaurant reservations, all of which went perfectly. The food in the breakfast room was of very high quality (it is not possible to get a better omelet).

Didn’t sleep the entire stay.

Room was like a sauna. The air con didn’t work, hotel called an engineer to fix it whose solution was to situate the air con unit in the middle of our room which didn’t fix the problem and left us living in a building site for the weekend. Such a shame, the building and room could have been beautiful but were spoilt by the temperature and lack of simple amenities like coffee, shower gel.

Spacious and clean. Great location in old town, right by the freedom statue. Many good restaurant options around the corner, easy access to buses and taxis. The tv didn't work (the staff on duty couldn't fix it and didn't seem to hand it over to someone who could). And unfortunately there were loud street musicians outside at night – the hotel has done all it can with good windows and thick curtains, but if you're sensitive to loud music it's don't pick a room facing the square. I would have expected that in the summertime given the location, but why would street musicians with loud speakers be out all on their own on a rainy night in late October?

Can’t beat the location, but the air conditioning didn’t work, the condition of the room was rough, and upon checkout they had a surprise local tax charge and were unable to accept card payment.
