"Staff very friendly and welcoming, always greeted you when you entered. Good facilities for self catering. Rooms a little dated but clean. Good quality bunk beds-not rickety or squeaky. Only negative I would say is the sheets aren’t big enough for the bed-even someone who sleeps like a corpse wouldn’t be able to keep it on the mattress. Overall happy with my experience here and would recommend!"

"The hotel is very nice and in a good location. Bathrooms need a renovation, not what I was expecting from the brand. All in all, a very nice place to stay for a few nights."

"Very comfortable bed! A fan was provided which was awesome given the heat wave that was happening! There was an iron/ironing board and the room was spacious. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Had a great supper in the restaurant. Parking on site for a very reasonable price. Great location for exploring plus the area around was very quiet."

"Hotel doesn't look impressive from outside. The window on ground floor is boarded up, reception is on first floor very small area The hotel is very nice inside, rooms are nicely decorated , the bathroom has a lovely sink and rainfall shower. Plenty of tea, coffee, nice biscuits. The reception service is below standards for a decent hotel. Staff not very good at dealing with customers . After my four night stay, apparently I hadn't stayed there! and was supposed to be checking in after my checkout. Very shoddy and disorganised customer service . Find a hotel with a nice restaurant is my recommendation, though I did know about absence of restaurant before booking."

"A rather shabby hotel which save for the restaurant is served by obviously demotivated and poorly trained staff . The attention to detail was quite shocking . The lift was out of order to the the 4th floor and being " urgently " repaired - over a 24 hour period there was no sign of any repair activity , the bar crowded and sporadically staffed. The doormen shuffling about with their shirt tails hanging out and filthy chandeliers in reception. This hotel is an overpriced and dreary place ."

"Stayed here for two nights. The room was clean and spacious. Good facilities in room but it was incredibly hot during our visit so a fridge in room would have improved our stay as no air conditioning but not many days in England you would need it. Breakfast was lovely, small but everything you could want. Evening menu was a bit limited and I probably would go somewhere else for an evening meal. The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful."

"For a 4 star hotel, this isn't an ideal place to stay when there is a heatwave. The room we were given was unbearably hot and we couldn't open our windows; no air con. The fans were poor and didn't do anything. Myself being pregnant and having a 5 year old, we couldn't stay here so ended up having to find another accommodation. There was a couple of timed power outages which also ruined the experience. I would say the only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool."

Walton Hall Hotel & Spa by Sunday

8/10 Good

"Had historic room but was up two flights of stairs and no lift. Restaurant meant a walk outside. Weather was good but would be a problem if not. Breakfast was £13. Was ok. Pool was £12 per day which we did not know until we arrived. Plenty of parking and lovely grounds. Some parts greatly in need of refurbishment."
