Silver Surf Motel

"This hotel bed was the best I’ve ever slept on besides my own bed. I slept like a baby. The bathroom was beautiful. The hotel is dated, but it’s clean and convenient and a very good price. Very nice staff very accommodating, simple, no frills, but extremely comfortable. Cheapest price I paid for a hotel for many years. It was midweek and off-season, but I would stay here again and pay more in a heartbeat."

"This is my go to place to stay in San Simeon. It's affordable and the rooms are decent. The best things I like besides the affordability are the friendly staff (Edward and Maria), the pool and jacuzzi with the fire pit next to it, the continental breakfast and there is a nice beach front across Highway 1 right out front if you walk to the west end of the street. I've stayed here multiple times and Edward provides great customer service. This time I also was assisted by Maria, and she too was amazing. It's not a high end place like places along Moonstone Beach in Cambria, but it's affordable and comfortable with great service and amenities."

"Great place for a stopover up the coast. Jane at the front desk was super friendly and very helpful. The room was big and perfect for our stay. Bed was very comfortable and HUGE. We loved the red retro fridge and microwave. A little noisy with motorcycles and next door neighbors but otherwise a great stay. Pool looked nice. Breakfast offerings were ok. We walked to a nice beachfront restaurant and the nearby beach was great for sunset! Overall, I would recommend to friends!"

"A charming little hotel nestled right on the beach. I especially loved the nightly campfires, which created a cozy atmosphere where guests could sit by the fire and enjoy the beach in the evenings. Unfortunately, the hotel is quite dated and could benefit from better maintenance and some upgrades, especially considering the price. Service was inconsistent, with some staff being friendly and professional while others seemed inexperienced or unhelpful. Room service was technically available but practically nonexistent, as calls often went unanswered or requests were met with confusion. The hotel feels more like a family-run business than a professionally managed resort. While this gives it a certain charm, there is room for improvement in staff training, professionalism, and overall service. Although the hotel is dog-friendly, the restaurant is not, and there is only one outdoor table available beside it, making dining with a dog somewhat inconvenient. Overall, I enjoyed the location and unique atmosphere, particularly the nightly beach campfires. However, with better maintenance, upgraded facilities, and more consistent service, the hotel could offer a much better experience for the price."

"The staff were a great help in extra amenities we needed. They would come and clean the room daily. The bodywah shampoo and conditioner were small for four people to a room and the AC did not work but they did provide fans for the room which was nice. Overall we did enjoy our stay and will come again. We love how close we were to the beach."

"The room is big, clean and looks new. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices, like waffles, hot and cold cereals, eggs filled with cheese, bacon and potatoes and many more. The hotel is walking distance to the beach, restaurants and short drive to Hearst Castle, Cambria and Moonstone beach. We will definitely stay here again."
