"This received a 9.6 rating on Expedia, which was far higher than other accommodations in the area. Overall, the property was just OK. The room was large, and relatively clean, but the property in general did not feel like a 9.6. Even with the bathroom fan on, the mirrors, steamed up during a hot shower, which tells me the fan isn’t working properly. The communal areas are fine, just nothing worthy of 9.6."

"Overall, a great hotel and a very pleasant stay. The only area that could use some improvement is the cleanliness of certain spots around the property, such as the area right outside the check-in desk and the trash can near the elevator in the basement parking lot. Other than that, it’s a great hotel and I would definitely stay here again."

"Lovely hotel and great location on the coast. Breakfast is more of a continental style (pastries, coffee, tea). Close access to Route 1 and Hearst Castle. Definitely recommend."

"The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with a nice partial ocean view. The staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming. A few things to be aware of: there is no air conditioning, although a fan is provided. The office closes at 8:00 p.m., so there is no staff on-site overnight, the night manager is available by telephone if needed. The showerhead could also use an upgrade. Overall, it’s a nice place to stay, and I enjoyed my visit. I would consider staying here again."

"The owner was gracious and went above and beyond to accommodate me and my mom. She even upgraded our room! The breakfast was delicious. The house and gardens are lovely and whimsical right in town walking distance to cute stores and restaurants. A great place to stay if you are going to the Hearst Castle."

"This hotel was in a great location, the staff were wonderful, but the property is dated. The section I was in Deluxe room with ocean view, had gross slipcovers on the chairs, the rug was old. This hotel could definitely use a complete makeover. I thought it would be nicer than it was. Having carpet around a beach is a little gross and they also allow pets which is gross with a carpet. Just my opinion. The restaurant was great, food was great and the people were wonderful."

"Cute place to stay right across from Moonstone Beach and boardwalk. Very clean. We enjoyed walking evening and early morning. Breakfast was nice but does not start until 7:30. Closest coffee place open early was on Main Street."

"My son and I had an amazing stay at Coast Riders Inn. From the moment we arrived, Buddy, Vanessa and Jane made us feel welcomed and completely at home. They offered us homemade chocolate chip cookies upon arrival and explained to us the cool things to check out in the area. The rooms were super clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The retro microwave, coffee, machine, and fridge/freezer were absolutely delightful! And Buddy’s Lego collection is awesome! We look forward to coming back...

"The location of the property provided an amazing view of the ocean. Just crossing the street we were able to walk either the boardwalk or the sandy beach. The morning breakfast basket was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended."
