We had a lovely stay at the Azoris Faial Garden hotel. Fabulous views of Pico island and lovely hotel grounds. Food was very good, plenty of choice at breakfast and all food clearly labelled for allergens. The only thing missing was tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

If you are traveling to the Açores (Azores), I highly recommend a stop on Pico Island. The unique landscape of volcanic rock, historical vineyards, and Mount Pico jutting out of the center of the island are breathtaking. You can stay on the island, or if you prefer, you can stay in Horta on Faial Island and take the ferry across for the day. Here, we captured the pinks of the sunset reflecting on Mount Pico as we pulled out of the ferry station in Madalena, headed back to Horta. #InStone #VolcanicRock #MountPico #Azores

This is a photo of the Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyards UNESCO World Heritage site. Here and in a few other areas of the island, you’ll see the land divided up into small rectangular plots by piles of black basalt (volcanic rock formed by lava), a centuries-old practice.
