It’s noticeable that the Hotel Edgewater recently received a coat of paint & a new lobby. Impressions change though when you open the door to your room. We had booked two and neither had a window, nor did the ac or tv working properly. Oddly, the big tv in the lobby worked fine…Go see Manager Jose and you’ll quickly learn that he has no solutions, lots of excuses and a large along dose of apathy. He’ll then go hide in his back office. (I did see him later in his shift out for an ice cream on the town with a couple of his friends). Jose did though help me understand that I’m from the lower 48 and made the poor choice of booking thru Expedia, but, “Hey, this is Alaska”, which should be taken to mean that a 2 star here is a 5 star anywhere else, so be happy with it. The staff, other than Jose, are doing their best, so like the ‘49s of the gold rush, leave your bag of gold at the front desk as you head out for your cruise, because this is as good as it gets around these parts.
