"Excellent staff, clean, good breakfast. The windows open to a shaft so not particularly pleasing. The location isn’t that great unfortunately. There isn’t anything to see or do in the near vicinity so you will need to take public buses which are quite unreliable and very busy. If you are traveling to Malta for the first time, I would suggest booking a hotel in Valetta. "

"This is a family owned and operated hotel that provides the quality and service of five star stay.
The hotel and room size are appropriate for the area, but the lavishness of the bedding, the confines all say luxury and exceptionally clean. This is an incredible find of a high value hotel in room close to where you wanna be. You can walk to Saint Peter’s pool and the Bay"

"Massimo's property is a really lovely place to end the day and relax.
Breakfast was perfect to get us fueled up for a long day of walking ahead!
Beautiful view from the bedroom balcony and great communication from a wonderful host.
Taxi's are easy around Gozo, but when visiting Victoria the bus is also convenient. "

"The hotel is in a good location and check in was easy.
I was slightly disappointed with the look of the room,as the furniture and bed linen was very dated.
I could not the watch TV as there was no box connected to it to chose channels, and even directly through the TV there was no option to chose a channel.
The WiFi in my room wouldn't connect, but I did manage to connect to the WiFi in the reception area.
My biggest complaint is that the door to my room was located near the lift, so it was very noisy with people coming and going at all hours of the day.
I did get my 2 nights stay at a very good price, so I was able to accept the negatives of my stay"
"Front desk staff at Mr Todd were fabulous upon arrival, friendly, efficient
Room was spacious, had mini fridge, kettle, big bathroom with plenty of hot water.
Steps away from shops, restaurants, ferry to Valletta, Promenade , perfect location to see the sites."
"Great location, loverly room with sea view with tea/coffee facilities, small fridge and free to use safe. Excellent breakfast, outdoor pool located across the road."
"We stayed at AX The Palace for a week with 2 children in a family room, which was quite big, with a huge bed for the parents and a sofa bed for the kids. Breakfast was excellent with everything you can think of (from cereals to cooked English breakfast, from vegetables and plenty of salads to fruit and desserts). The indoor swimming pool was a great addition, and we used it daily especially in the afternoons, after exploring Malta during the day. The outdoor pool was a bit chilly for April, but in the summer it must be amazing.
As we booked half board we also had 7 dinners. Although the food was great, it felt a bit repetitive on some days. The staff were all fantastic, very helpful and attentive. Location of the hotel is also amazing - in the heart of Sliema, minutes walk from the Valletta ferry and plenty of cafes and restaurant around as well. We used the indoor swimming pool daily in the afternoons, after exploring Malta during the day. The outdoor pool was bigger but it was a bit chilly for us to make use of it on most days. We are sure it's amazing in the summer!

"My room rate was to include a free bottle of wine as a GOLD member but none was provided. It is disappointing to be offered something but then not have it provided when checking in."
"This was our third visit to the Barcelo Fortina - we visited twice last year and returned this April with friends. However, we had noticed a couple of things that will deter us from booking again.
Firstly, I have to say that the staff and rooms are truly excellent - staff are friendly, helpful and faultless. A couple of things riled us at this visit. The friends that we brought along with us needed some extra milk for their tea in their room ( they leave two small sachets only) and when they requested the milk, the bar said that there would be a charge for it! The second and more unpleasant aspect was when we went to try and get sun loungers by the pool.... we were told when we arrived that they had to be booked a day ahead. However, one afternoon, we thought we would risk it and see if there was anything available as we thought some people may have vacated by then. We asked at the pool reception and told that it would cost 120 euros to have a sunbed! We walked away confused. We then went to reception to BOOK a sunbed for the following day,,, duly arrived with our slip of paper and told we were only allowed a sunbed furthest away from the sea and the pool with only the back of peoples heads as a view even though there were plenty of better sited beds available. It seems that as we were hotel residents, and as the pool area is now not owned by the hotel, there are only a few sunbeds reserved for hotel guests. Sadly, we will be looking for a different hotel next year....."
"Overall average stay. Problems included: no microwave, really warm room at some points with no solution as AC system couldn't be controlled by the staff (?), hot water got cut off multiple times in the room so couldn't shower, no locks on bathroom door, lack of hangers and hooks, and a bad toilet flush. Breakfast was decent, not too much variety and quite repetitive, but catering staff were very nice - they cooked vegetarian options if you asked. Room cleaning staff were also nice. Hotel staff in the reception weren't though."
