The JR Inn is a picture-perfect example of a mid-20th century "Atomic Age" motel, From the arrowhead-shaped sign to the layout of a ring of rooms with a central green courtyard, to the 60's style of furniture inside, and real metal keys in the doors.
No one was at the office to receive us upon arrival, so I had to go find a housekeeper working and get her to check us in. She did it well, though.
We liked the ability to park our car directly in front of our room.
Chairs and several barbecue grills were placed on the sidewalk in front of the rooms which would be ideal for socializing with the other guests (if people still did that) - a nice touch.
There was a basketball goal in the courtyard for pick-up games that would be good for the kids to work off energy after being shut in the car all day.
The courtyard was also a great place to exercise your pet.
One downside was the "portable" air conditioner unit that exhausted through a front window. It was noisy and blew directly toward the bed. I got up during the night and turned it when I got tired of the draft.
But the room was clean, the plumbing worked, the bed was comfy and it was quiet and restful. I liked it!
