Motel Happy Salmon
"Surprisingly good little motel halfway between Calgary and Vancouver. Only about 10 km east of Salmon Arm. Recent renovations we saw include new flooring, cupboards, bathroom and of course paint. Beds were comfortable, and AC was working. A coffee machine and coffee pods were great before leaving as there is no onsite food service. The microwave was good for reheating some light snacks we had stored in the fridge. But the ovens were removed in the recent renovations and if you do actual cooking you will lose your room deposit. The motel is across the highway from the town of Canoe where you can get some quick foods and snacks. Also next to the snack store is the local bar where we picked up a meal, so there is no need to go back to Salmon Arm. Great food but can get noisy-- it's a pub. The wi-fi is so good you can sit in the park area in front of the hotel and still access your room wi-fi. There are picnic tables and lounge chairs and they were great for relaxing outdoors late at night. We did not watch much TV but it works although for some reason it did not seem like HD quality. I would like to see some handrails in the tub/shower area. It is difficult for older people to step over the high tub side to take a shower without something to hang on to. Best not to grab the toilet paper roll for support. Also an instruction sheet for the AC would be good. In our room I needed to stand on a bed to adjust and that is a big task for wobbly seniors. No stairs to climb- none!"

"Great property. Stayed there many times. Clean the windows!! Rooms and the end of hallways. Wanted to look out at the lake and enjoy the views but had a difficult time seeing through the accumulated dust and spider webs. Everything else is great!!"

"A DELIGHTFUL PLACE Having reserved 2 nights for a modrate fee, we expected a moderately comfortable stay in this excellent Salmon Arm location. We were to be surprised. From the welcoming staff, to the tour of the grounds, to the delights of the large pool and gardens, all set within the original forest, it is a HIDDEN GEM. Our second floor room overlooked the long arm of the pool and we enjoyed our deck for morning coffee and an evening happy hour. The area was peaceful and fragrant from the hanging pots and many flowering shrubs around the pool. Beds comfortable, bathroom good. Parking below. Hiking trails next door. Restaurant open on weekends."
