"A quiet & comfortable one nights stay & great value for money. Our room was nice & clean, the shower & toilet area appeared recently refurbished. Plenty of amenities in the room & extra tea/coffee & milk etc available from a table in the reception. Self service buffet breakfast was nice decent & plentiful considering it’s included in the room rate, it was very busy at 8.30am but staff managed it Ok. Free parking is another bonus along with the very close proximity to the Metro Centre (easy walk) & not too far from Newcastle. There is a regular bus to/from the Metro Centre & Newcastle just outside the hotel. There is a pub, KFC & Sambuca Restaurant along side the hotel, just a shame the immediate area is becoming a bit untidy with the derelict TGI Friday’s & overgrown hedges/walkways."

"The staff really made this place and got it an extra star overall for this review. Sadly like a lot of old grand houses the place was a bit tired around the edges but we knew what to expect and the room and areas were clean. The bar area was modern with a great contemporary look and decor. The evening meal was ok - nothing amazing just ok if not a little on the pricy side. The breakfast was great value at £10pp and I always say you can judge a hotel by its sausage and those along with the black pudding on offer was very decent. Again the staff in every department were lovely - unfortunately we found the bed a little uncomfortable on the fist nigh (my wife could feel a spring through the mattress). We asked for a topper for night two but they didn’t have any BUT the mattress was flipped for us and another duvet was added on top - all this magic happened while we were out for the day so well done team, great customer service. Parking was ample, the welcome very warm (even asking us if we wanted to change rooms due to a wedding that night and us being over the function room). It’s a shame there is no longer a swimming pool as we didn’t feel the spa was worth the extra cost for what there was but we had a nice walk around the well kept (but abandoned golf course). Would we go back - yes we probably would."

"Staff were really friendly. Hotel was beautiful, as was our room except for the carpet. Stained pink in places and brown spots, told reception as was worried staying with two teenage boys they may have thought it was us! Lady was extremely apologetic and informed me that she would let the managers know. There were also sweet wrappers under the bed which were not ours. Spa looked beautiful, but more for couples/adults relaxing so decided against ruining the vibe with teenage boys! Would visit again with friends or husband though. Restaurant again was beautiful, it did take 45 minutes for our starter to arrive but I think they were short staffed and lady was doing her very best. Once did arrive, food was lovely, as was breakfast. Would stay again as location excellent, staff friendly and think just got a bit unlucky with the carpet as the rest of the room was beautiful especially the bathroom."
