Then at check in she was completely unpleasant. I had a less than impressive stop the time before but thought I’d give the place one more chance. Never again will I stay at the Jim Butler."

"This is a delightfully quirky place to stay. Staff were wonderful, informative and helpful. The original owner, sadly deceased, was definitely an eccentric. Those who manage the property today are keen to continue her vision. The property is rundown but that did not detract from the pleasure of being somewhere, at the end of our Death Valley drive, with a bit of character."

"The room itself was great. Plenty of plugs available, nice king bed and easy to get to. Loved that water and snacks were available for free as well as breakfast coupons for the steakhouse. We did not have sheets for the sofa bed and it was late when returned so we all (3)just slept in the bed. We had a non smoking room however we had to walk through smoke to get to it. One of the pillows had dried blood stains on it..."

"This place is a dump and I should have known better than relying on limited Expedia choices and reviews (which are usually dependable). Ely, an out of the way Nevada town but the closest place to stay when visiting Great Basin National Park and charging our vehicle, was apparently very busy this weekend and thus the hotel/room choices were limited.
