This is a gem -- famly run hotel (couple and their seven children!), in a historical hotel (100+ year old which was a restaurant and many other things over its history). Judy Garland used to stay there in the 1930s. Lots of history. But more importantly, it's relaxed and feels like you're staying in a family house with a family who stays out of your way unless you need help, in which case they are very helpful.
I've seen comments about the bathroom situation. What I can say is I stayed there two different times, and the shared bathroom was not a problem at all. Maybe it's because overall the hotel was not very occupied. I can see if it was fully booked it might be a bit of an issue but also understand that some rooms have their own or a shared bathroom, which means that the communal bathroom doesn't have everyone using it. Also I believe every room has its own sink and mirror, so you can wash face/brush teeth in your own room.
I felt the hotel was very clean while also feeling old and historic.
If there's a downside it's that the town of Springer is pretty dead, and you'll have a hard time getting a meal at night nearby.
Overall I'd totally stay here again and would recommend that you try it if you're in the area.
