"The location was excellent! However, the breakfast buffet left something to be desired—we only ate there once. Please note that we visited in April and the building’s air conditioning was not yet turned on, so our room was quite warm. Even with the window open, it didn’t help much and it was very noisy. "Welcoming and helpful reception. Large room with comfortable bed. Good soundproofing. Extensive hot and cold fare at breakfast. Convenient for Keleti station and trams. However room too warm. Air conditioning is not controlled in each room, so only option was to have window open. This allowed external noise to enter. A shame, as otherwise a fab hotel."

"The hotel was very clean, and the staffs were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a bottle of wine as a welcome gift—something that many hotels don’t offer—which made us feel very special. Since we didn’t open the wine, we left it as a gift for the housekeeper. I also really appreciated having a small refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room. These amenities are quite rare when traveling in Europe, and they were extremely convenient. The hotel’s location right next to the metro made getting around very easy. I would definitely stay at Hotel Oktogon Haggenmacher again and would highly recommend it to family and friends."

"Clean rooms. Just be careful. They will send you an automated email stating you owe additional money for accommodations you never requested. Ask for an itemized invoice showing exactly what these “alleged accommodations” are. "

"When I booked I wasn’t told that the hotel was undergoing renovation. The breakfast was poor, cold scrambled egg, mini sausages floating in oil, orange juice from the machine looked like cloudy water, and all for 13 euros. I asked if I could have a kettle and was told I could rent one for 10€ per day, I told the concierge that I had one the last time I stayed, he told me the reason I didn’t get one was I booked through Expedia. I’ve used the ibis in hero Square three times now and every time it’s got worse. I go to Budapest three or four times a year it’s a lovely city but I definitely won’t be using the ibis in hero Square again. "
