"We have stayed here on multiple occasions, and overall we would recommend the INN ON THE RIVER to anyone wishing to explore and experience the Woodstock/Queche Vermont area. The atmosphere and decor of the inn is topnotch. There is some maintenance/upkeep work to be done on the inn's exterior wooden structures, especially at the back of the inn facing the river (re:sanding and re-staining). "Lovely hotel ( looks more like condos) on the edge of town surrounded by trees and green. Staff was very helpful and available early and late. We had a suite (highly recommend). Very cute town, good restaurants, farmers market on Saturday. We took the train from Rutland to NYC. It was a 2 hour drive from Albany."

"Absolute gem on the edge of.downtown. super walkable everywhere in terms of shopping, and within a 5 min drive to less pricier food options away from downtown. Jessica was an amazing and gracious host. The oatmeal with maple syrup, apples and walnuts was the quintessential Vermont start to the day. So many unique touches in terms of aesthetics made it feel homey yet held to the character of a nearly 200 year old home. Stay here."

"Amazing hot pool, great staff, another marvelous stay very close to the mountain and plenty of other activities. Laundry room is clutch (coin operated machines, change available at front desk). The wife had an injury and wasn't able to navigate stairs all that well, the front desk was understanding and were kind enough to move our room to the main floor, requiring no stairs, while the elevator was being worked on. New ownership is busy making some upgrades and maintenance and hopefully the vibes...

"This place was great. Immaculate. Supplied with everything you might need— refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, etc. No staff onsite but they are completely accessible and even contacted me after I’d checked out to tell me I had left a few things behind. Recommend highly."

Instead, this place is old, dilapidated, poorly maintained and in need of major updates, if that is even possible. It's an old wooden fire trap. Despite the pictures, this is not "Bob Newhart's Vermont Inn." Instead, this place is run down. No elevator, unless you can locate a staff member to operate it, so enjoy the walk to the 4th floor.
