Guest bedroom had tasteful decor comfortable bed with duvet- nice bonus having electric heat pad to warm the bed on cooler nights. The room was stocked with an assortment of teas coffee and biscotti. "We had a 1 night stay over at the Golden Gate hotel. We initially thought we booked at the hotel but was surprised that we had booked a chalet. The chalet was perfect with its own braai (BBQ) outside and all the amenities required for a proper self catering experience. Would definitely stay there again as it about a 15 minute scenic drive to Clarens."

"There was a bit of a drain smell coming from the bathroom. The LEd lights under the facias and the room does not have "Block out" curtains so the lights at night disturbed my sleep a bit. Other than that, the place is fine "

"This was my second stay here and the staff made the stay perfect. They were, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable and so accommodating. The room floors could do with a scrub as well as washing and tidying up the curtains. Other than that everything else was perfect. Washroom facilities were spot on but shower floor corners need a clean. What we took away...the beautiful staff. They are your best assets there. Then comes the views. Thank you Emma and Team"

"I would highly recommend the Protea in Clarens. It has a contemporary feel and the rooms are comfortable. It is also very well situated to explore the small town. The only downside was the very noisy air conditioning unit. "
