The location of this Best Western is absolutely stunning — the view from our room was breathtaking, and being right along the beach is a huge plus. We also really appreciated the complimentary breakfast and enjoyed using the gym, which was well-equipped.
However, our overall experience was disappointing due to a number of issues that could have been communicated better or avoided altogether.
First, during our stay, there was loud construction happening right next to our room. We were not made aware of this beforehand — had we known, we would have booked elsewhere. What was supposed to be a relaxing getaway turned into a frustrating, noisy stay.
On the morning of my birthday, the power suddenly went out while we were having breakfast. No one in the restaurant acknowledged it or explained what was happening. As we walked through the lobby, we passed four staff members who also said nothing. My boyfriend spoke with BC Hydro himself, only to find out it was a scheduled power outage — something that should absolutely have been communicated to guests in advance.
We did enjoy the hot tub, which offered an amazing view. That said, it felt awkward having to walk through the gym where people are working out — to get to it.
Overall, while the location is beautiful and the potential is there, the lack of communication and guest consideration during our stay really soured the experience.
