"We booked Nakelo off the online images, and upon arrival it was clear the damage they had sustained from the recent cyclone. Our first day was cloudy and a bit windy so it didnt show off the resort to its beauty. We had 5 days there, and by the end we didnt want to leave. The staff are lovely (Henry 1, Henry 2, Lannie, William, and the rest of the staff), and enjoy having a laugh or joke with you. The room we had was great, the aircon was wonderful on those hot humid days to have a break in. The Kokada dish is a must try - our favourite! The snorkeling is amazing. Both sides of the island offer different snorkeling experiences and worth spending a day on each reef. The sand bar trip is great, the reef out there is a must dive and is where we saw our first reef shark. Watch out for the trigger fish near the shore - they will protect their nest and will chase and bite you if you get too close. The jetskis are no longer used as the company that operated them is no longer there. The facilities need alot of refurbishment and they know that, but hopefully soon they get the funding to do what they need. There was only 14 of us on the island at any time and it was heaven. The whole island to ourselves and no kids - bliss. We got to release a turtle which was incredible. They have turtles and iguanas on the island which you can feed. There was trash around the beach which was a shame to see and would be an easy fix, but overall we loved out time, and we will be back in the future."
"Great resort. Beautiful staff.
Excellent dining. Extras can mount up quickly. Coral for snorkelling was very average in front of resort, but they are taking the eco-system seriously with coral planting and mangrove preservation underway. Overall a lovely tranquil place to stay with quality throughout. Honeymoon Island picnic and snorkel was special."
"Amazing place to experience “island vibes”.
Great people, excellent location.
Snorkelling, kayaking, sunsets, pool, bar, beach - all great!
Some construction going on as of May 2026 until about Nov 2026. Might want to check with staff to try to stay further away.
Food is fairly basic, but good and sufficient.
Excellent stay for a few nights, highly recommend!"
"Overall we had a great stay at Plantation. Heaps to do for the kids and kids club is super handy so you can do things without the kids. One super disappointing thing that happened on our morning of checking out though. They say to leave your luggage outside your room and they will collect to take to the ferry dock. Our ferry was leaving at 11am so we left our luggage outside, went to breakfast and then went to wait for the ferry. As we saw them loading the luggage on we couldn’t help but to think we couldn’t see ours, after awhile I thought maybe I should go check outside our room just incase, sure enough our luggage was still sitting outside. I had to call my partner to run, leave our kids at the dock, and us two had to run with four suitcases over grass and dirt only just making it to the ferry on time. I was furious. While on the ferry a lady next to us got a phone call saying her luggage was still left on the island and I believe she was going to miss her flight because of this. A super disappointing thing to happen at the end of a good trip, so just a warning for other travellers to check your luggage or take it to the ferry yourself. "
"Place, it's great if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing time, and if you are ok with booking activities offered by the resort on the island. Otherwise, you will have to pay for transportation every time a boat is needed, and you will have to coordinate with other boats and jump from one to the other in the water, which could be fun, scary, or impossible for others. Just be aware. Plus, of course, you will have to pay both sides to do that for you. And there is a schedule: if your activities end too late after 6pm, you will have to book a place on the mainland to stay, and good luck getting a taxi if you don't book in advance!
Best sunrise I have ever seen! Tho! Also, be aware of the food that is limited to what they offer."
"Beautiful resort at a beautiful location. Friendly staff and excellent food. The only slight criticism is that being able to access our bill prior to checkout would have been helpful."
