"We had to cancel unexpectedly. We were to arrive on the weekend. I did call but the reservation was not cancelled because the call was not answered or processed.
I left a message at the property although it was perplexing that a call to the hotel was not answered. I was at no time advised that the reservation was made by a third party. IT WAS APPRENTLY A SECRET That EXPEDIA WAS BROUGHT IN AS A THIRd PARTY.
The next day I received a call from the hotel saying they could not cancel the reservation because t hey did not get my message until the next day. So I had to pay one days fees and the second day was then cancelled. 😡. I feel that was deceptive. What’s I did cancel the day before. It is fraud if the big hotel change has a policy that is not made public and this results in the consumer pays the price.
I had been a Marriott Bonvoy member years ago. This was not the policy then. It is quite a surprise to learn they are unable to have a person available to respond to a customer during weekends at a hotel property.
I don’t expect to renew that membership!"
