As someone who grew up in Northern Michigan, it’s disheartening to see how overpriced and underwhelming some of its once-proud destinations have become. Case in point: Grand Traverse Resort. At $500 per night, you'd expect at least the basics to be functional—like a coffee maker that makes hot coffee, dry floors under the desk (I think we all know what that indicates), and an A/C unit that doesn’t sound like a freight train.
Sadly, the experience only got worse from there. Unpleasant staff, lackluster service, and absurd pricing across the board—$20 for a peanut butter cookie and a medium coffee, seriously?
To all the families visiting with kids, spending their hard-earned money here: I’m honestly sorry. You deserve better. Places like this are turning what should be cherished vacations into overpriced headaches.
Also, it's become clear that using platforms like Expedia no longer guarantees value or protection. Their customer service seems powerless to intervene or mediate when issues arise with these properties.
Northern Michigan deserves better, and so do its visitors.
