The majestic Nidaros Cathedral towers over cobblestone streets lined with colourful 18th-century wooden warehouses. Visitors can cross the iconic Old Town Bridge to discover the tilting timber buildings of Bakklandet. The area offers rich cultural experiences through museums like Rockheim and the NTNU Science Museum. Enjoy traditional Norwegian cuisine at waterside restaurants or explore local boutiques selling authentic crafts. With excellent walkability and the central train station nearby, Trondheim's historic heart is easy to navigate.

Bakklandet
Bakklandet charms visitors with its cobblestone lanes and colourful 17th-century wooden houses along the Nidelva River. This historic district showcases Trondheim's Norwegian heritage through well-preserved architecture and artisan workshops. The Old Town Bridge offers picture-perfect views of the neighborhood's iconic timber buildings. What was once a working-class area has evolved into a creative hub with quirky cafés and boutiques. From here, you can easily walk to Kristiansten Fortress or admire Nidaros Cathedral across the water. The pedestrian-friendly streets invite unhurried exploration of this authentic slice of Norwegian culture.

Nedre Elvehavn
Nedre Elvehavn showcases Trondheim's brilliant transformation from industrial shipyard to artistic haven. Colourful warehouses line scenic waterfront paths where the Nidelva River meets the fjord. Art galleries and design studios fill historic buildings with creative energy. The Solsiden shopping centre anchors this vibrant district with modern Nordic restaurants and boutique shops. Summer visitors can catch water taxis along the fjord. Well-connected by city buses, this walkable area offers a perfect blend of maritime heritage and contemporary culture.

Brattøra

This revitalised harbour district houses the city's Central Station and cruise terminals, making it a key transport hub. The colourful cube of Rockheim, Norway's national museum of popular music, stands out against the working harbour backdrop. Wide pedestrian promenades invite leisurely strolls with stunning fjord views. Visit Pirbadet for family fun or explore maritime history at the Trondheim Maritime Museum. The Leiv Eiriksson Statue honours the famous explorer while connecting travellers to Norway's seafaring past.

Lerkendal

Top Trondheim Hotel Reviews
Clarion Hotel Trondheim
"Best breakfast in Norway. Great location with easy walk to all sites."
P-Hotels Brattøra
"The room was basic, but very comfortable. Could have used a few more pillows, but they were willing to provide more upon asking. Also, hotel is very well located, particularly if taking the train anywhere. For the price, it was a perfectly fine room!"
Quality Hotel Augustin
"Great location"
Rumi Hostel
"位置離市中心不遠,步行可達,注意上坡較多,如有大行李就要關注,有廚房方便煮食,附近有超市。整體都很好,唯獨是在上格床沒有插頭,如要電就要到飯廳找位置,那就有點煩。"
Best Western Plus Hotel Bakeriet
"The room was incredibly spacious and there was plenty of space to move around The hotel is perfectly located in Trondheim and was 5 mins away from the central station The building was great as it had plenty of character having used to be a bakery We had breakfast included which was great and there was lots of variety with what was offered The luggage room, whilst quite small, was great to store anything we didn't need if you are arriving early in the morning The front desk staff were excellent and extremely helpful for anything we needed"
Scandic Lerkendal
"Lovely comfortable hotel with great breakfast. A bus ride from centre of Trondheim. Also direct bus to the folk museum. Really super helpful staff. Thank you. Good for children. Next to football stadium."
City Living Sentrum Hotell
"Great central location and was good for just a weekend trip. The shower water got everywhere in the bathroom though. And the hotel is right above / next to several clubs which are loud until about 3 am. I was fine with noise cancelling headphones but would not recommend for very light sleepers!"
Radisson Blu Royal Garden Hotel
"I moved here at short notice due to an unsatisfactory booking elsewhere, and was impressed with my experience at Radisson. The location is excellent, on the water and near to tourist sights, easily walkable to the cathedral etc. There are bus stops a few blocks away. Breakfast was very good, with gluten free bread and other GF options. I was surprised to find one of my side window curtains mostly detached from its hooks, but this was remedied on the first housekeeping visit."
Britannia Hotel
"This is truly a beautiful hotel. Appointments are exquisite and the staff is the most friendly and helpful I have encountered in years. Room was very nice with incredible extra touches such as heated floor in the bathroom. I cannot recommend Britannia highly enough."
