Relais Della Rovere

"We loved this hotel. We were in the area for a sporting event and it was the perfect location for us. The hotel was gorgeous, authentic and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was really good with an amazing selection of cakes, pastries, fruit, cold meats and hot items. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the whole place just had a nice feel to it. Lighting in a bathroom is really important to me and the room we had was perfect. I wish we could have stayed there longer but they were fully booked. Due to that we moved to their sister hotel the Palazzo San Lorenzo for our last 3 nights and unfortunately it just didn’t have the same feel to it. The pool area at the Relais Della Rovere is lovely and very relaxing. It’s great they have a pool bar also. The demographic is very mixed, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo is more of an older coach trip crowd. I would definitely stay at the Relais Della Rovere again and recommend it as a good base to explore the surrounding areas and to chill and relax in between."

"I can’t fault the hotel in general, but honestly, it felt a bit soulless. We stayed at the sister hotel Relais Della Rovere earlier in the week and loved it. It felt warm, authentic and welcoming. The bar was by reception and constantly had people in it and all areas of the hotel were charming, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo, while impressive looking, lacked character inside despite being an old palace and in an area of architectural beauty/interest. As you are up the top of the old town, although there are some nice restaurants, they all keep strange opening hours/ days and on a Monday there is nowhere in walking distance to get lunch and limited options for dinner on a Sunday. That would have been fine if the hotel had food options, but they only do breakfast (which is very nice ) and then dinner for two hours in the evening. We were expecting Caffe San Lorenzo to do food, but we never saw it open and apparently they don’t do food despite it stating they do on the website. Maybe it’s off season for them, but the website doesn’t give opening times or say what days the restaurant/ caffe Lorenzo are closed. You get two small bottles of water in the fridge in the room daily, but there is nowhere to get any other bottled drinks throughout the day or around the pool unless you drive down to the main town to a supermarket. Whilst a decent hotel, we wanted somewhere to relax and not have to venture far to eat and drink after a busy week previously, this didn’t tick that box for us"

"Compared with hotels in Asia, the amenities here are relatively basic, as slippers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are not provided. My only other observation is that the bathroom is not completely sealed off from the room, unlike what you typically find in hotels in Asia. As a result, sounds from the bathroom can be heard quite clearly in the room, which can be slightly uncomfortable. Also the position where the shower head located is not ideal. I wet the whole floor on my first shower!"

"The room was beautiful and the location is fantastic. Loved the farm to table concept at the hotel and really appreciated the amenities in the room. Breakfast was incredible and would highly recommend. Overall a great stay!"

"Hotel and room are good for one or two nice day. Balcony room had a nice view.. My only negative and caution is regarding the on-site restaurant. Although, in it by itself, it could be considered a decent restaurant, but considering all the really excellent restaurants around it’s quite subpar for this town. With a group of 11 persons that have been traveling in Italy for a week the l general consensus was that the restaurant was OK, but nothing memorable or exceptional. And that situations could be normally fine, but the problem is that eating the Cisterna restaurant results in missing out on an excellent meal at one of a dozen restaurants within five minute walk. In summary, a stay at the hotel is nice but I would avoid the restaurant unless you just need to fill your stomach quickly"

"For our Tuscany tour, we decided to stay at LHP Certaldo Resort as it was very near to railway station. I turned out to be best location as train station is 7-9 min walk and area is very safe even at late evening. It is quiet location away from all noises and very easy to go to Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Cirque Terre without having to worry about driving. Check Train time tables to make the most of your time. The resort is an excellent property with all amenities and even a swimming pool ! They have included breakfast that is so nice with so many varieties to enjoy with plenty of choices for vegetarians. The staff is superb, lady at the front desk is so courteous and helpful in case if you have questions. Other staffs are equally nice and servers you with smile."
