"An absolutely lovely hotel, stunning both inside and out. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect. In particular, Camille on reception who greeted us with a warm smile and provided cold water on arrival, which was much needed during a heatwave.
She also gave us lots of useful information about the area, including recommendations for local French restaurants. We chose one and she kindly booked it for us.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever had, featuring fresh local produce and an outstanding selection. At €19, it was excellent value.
Our bedroom was quiet, with a very comfortable bed and a modern, clean, and beautiful bathroom. Air conditioning was a real bonus, along with free coffee-making facilities in various areas and cold bottled water available on request from reception.
The gym, jacuzzi, and spa were excellent, and throughout the hotel there were lovely places to sit and relax. We especially enjoyed the covered entrance area with tables and chairs—perfect for watching the world go by.
The location is ideal, right in the historic centre, with shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, and sights all on your doorstep. Parking is just a one-minute walk away.
Everything exceeded our expectations, but above all it was the staff who truly made the experience special from the ladies cleaning, to the restaurant staff and front desk. They were amazing. We will be back!"
"Brilliant location, directly opposite the station, and great value, but in a heatwave the lack of air conditioning is a problem. The hotel supplied two fans in every room which helped. So it’s a great place for most of the year - just not when it’s 35°."
"My husband ended up in hospital for a week and the Hotel was amazing. They went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed including finding me a room even though they were fully booked. There is lots of parking out the back but on a busy weekend it can be hard to get into the carpark as there is no reservations. Just another minor thing. In English the laundry sheet says if the articles are at the reception before 9am you get same day service. However I was charged for express and not same day. This is only a minor thing but I needed clean clothes for my husband. An excellent hotel and would highly recommend it."
Urban Hotel Aix-les-Bains, BW Signature Collection
8/10 Good
"This was advertised as a 4 * hotel. Certainly it had facilities like a pool, fitness room and bar but the bar menu was mediocre.
My biggest disappointment was the standard of furnishing. Seats with stained upholstery, no additional cushions on the chairs which were very wide and difficult to feel comfortable on if you are short.
The bedding for the sofa bed was poor. I do not consider an Eleclerc basic pillow satisfactory for 4 *. The innards had separated into bits. The quilts were equally poor quality. We had hoped for better in a suite.
Finally the breakfast was also disappointing. Limited choice.....and we were there early ...nothing labelled e.g. how to make or choose a drink and no staff to ask ...we have had better in 2 * accommodation."
