Water was not coming in the flush when checked in. It was rectified within half hour. Said that tank was empty. Okey, but early in the morning, the situation was same. Just imagine flush not working early in the morning, and not having a bucket or things like that. Secondly, even after rectification water was dripping just outside the washroom. Such things usually happen in cheap hotels. Sorry to mention these.

On the beach kilometres of sand n surf, great view from the rooms, spacious rooms, good breakfast, near the multiple restaurants and shopping area. Please Upgrade to lumber supporting mattresses, new upholstery of furniture and TV. This is the best located property on Papnasam Beach.

Very good but suffers a severe lack of maintenance
Hotel is very well located just in front of a very nice beach and at a walking distance of North Cliff where you will find a lot of shops and restaurants. Executive rooms are clean, spacious and well fitted with a superb view to the beach and incredible sunsets. Swimming pool is definitively a plus with a fantastic. Breakfast is average. However the Hotel suffers from a severe lack of maintenance everywhere (most chairs are broken at the swimming pool, paint is falling apart, ...). I would certainly come back but if the lack of maintenance continues for a while I am afraid that I would have to consider other options.

Great views
Hindustan Retreat is in an interesting location with much activity all around. The view of the beach from our room was great and we really enjoyed the sunsets from our porch. The breakfast offerings were meager but good. We requested info on yoga classes but no one ever got back to us?

Super location!
Location is great. All rooms have sea view. Interesting to watch the rituals on the beach. Pool was amazing and pool attendant very helpful. Good hotel for children. Breakfast was a welcome addition. The hotel is tired and there are pigeons on the building (owing to its design) but the hotel is certainly clean inside. The staff generally were very helpful and with three kids we found this useful. This hotel is not luxury but it is clean, comfortable and child friendly - in my opinion. In line with what you pay. Would recommend given the explaination above.

Not worth the price.
The place is 2 star and we were cheated the first night. Had we not asked for a better room, we would not have been given what we paid for. We were upgraded for one night.

+ Läget fantastiskt! Kunde inte varit bättre!Vacker utsikt! Fin pool! Frukost ok men maten var inte riktigt varm och juicen inte så kall. Fin utsikt från restaurangens takterass.Trevlig personal. - Väldigt hårda sängar, Svårt att spola på toaletten!Se frukosten. Det var lågsäsong då vi var där så vi kunde inte få annat än massage I SPA avdelningen, ingen yoga som utlovats. Men i det stora hela var vi väldigt nöjda med hotellet! Vi kan tänka oss att komma tillbaka!

Good value for money, but not completely new
Good value for money and very close to the waterside. Large rooms and a very nice view from our room (and the top floor where they serve breakfast and dinner). Pleasant pool both for adults and children. The first day the cleanliness was medium, but the second night it was very good. You will notice that the facilities are not brand new but on the other side the staff is friendly and very helpful.

4階の見晴しの良い部屋でしたが、桟には沢山の鳩の糞、もちろん鳩が常に休憩している状態で落ち着きにくい状態でした。窓がフィックスの窓なので掃除しにくい事は解りますが、せっかくの景観が台無しでした。 シーツは穴が開いており、湯沸かしポットには小さな虫が・・・。あまりにも沢山いたので、あきらめてポットは使わないようにしました。 最上階のレストラン、スタッフの対応は大変良かったです。ただ、朝食にはインスタントのコーヒーなので、コーヒー好きの人はガッカリするでしょう。安宿と違いますから、せめてドリップコーヒーぐらい用意して欲しかったです。 総合的な感想ですが、いたって普通のインドの宿でした。これならもっと安い宿にすれば良かったかな。

had a lovely big room with balcony with a great view of the beach and pool.Great shower and comfy bed.Breakfast was tasty and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Everything about the Hindustan was just what you want in a hotel. Would not hesitate to stay here again.Top hotel

My unhappiness was with the hotels t room service. The staff has a hard time understanding simple orders. My food was served cold. This hotel needs alot of improvement. Even their wifi needs to improve. The hotel location is good. Staffs are friendly.

Great beachside retreat
Stayed with family at this hotel by Papanasam Beach. Room was great, spacious enough for 3, beautiful view of the beach and Arabian Sea. Location can't be beat, 100 meters from the beach; its a 5 min auto ride from hotel to the North Cliff, where there are numerous restaurants and shops. The restaurant in the hotel is modest, but we had very good breakfast -- included -- every morning. To sum up: A perfect base for a lovely Varkala Beach vacation.

Med fönster mot havet, poolområde alldeles utanför och 50 meter till beachen har hotellet bästa läge! En svit m två rum till en kostnad på drygt 600 kronor natten, det går inte att klaga, den låga kursen på rupien hjälper förstås till! Ett rent och fint hotell med vänlig personal som gör sitt bästa men missar lite i servicen ibland. Tillbringade en semestervecka i Varkala. Vi är mycket nöjda.

Die Terrasse war vor lauter Vogelkot kaum betretbar ! Morgens um 7:00 Uhr nahm das Personal im Garten ihre Arbeit auf! Wir mussten die Vorhänge zuziehen , um nicht beobachtet zu werden ! Es wurde dann zwar einmal am Tag versucht die Terrasse von Vogelkot zu befreien ! Aber die Sauberkeit hielt nicht lange an ! Alternativ wäre ein Zimmer direkt an der Straße frei gewesen. Jedoch wesentlich kleiner und noch schmutztiger!! Das große angepriesene Frühstücksbüfett , war der größte Reinfall !! Bis auf das Toast mit Omelett , war alles andere eine Zumutung ! Diese Unterkunft , sollte für den Preis möglichst gemieden werden !!

Excellent stay, great service
Don't overlook Turtle Bay Spa which provides great massage therapy packages. Staff was friendly, cleanliness of rooms was impeccable, hotel restaurant served great food with incredible variety, plus the view overlooking the beach and the barely 100 metres separating the hotel from the beach add to the dreamlike experience.

loved the location
We stayed for seven nights, breakfasts were excellent and also had dinner in the hotel on two occasions. We loved the views from the room and enjoyed feeling part of the action whilst not being bothered by the local beach noise due to the double-glazed windows. Staff were responsive and friendly and we really appreciated the pool facilities.

Dette hotel har et helt ok pris/kvalitetsniveau. Beliggenheden lige ud til stranden er fantastisk - man kan sidde på sit vaerelse eller ved swimmingpoolen og foelge med i det lokale liv lige uden for på stranden - og det er lokalt - ikke mange turister - det er tillige for inderne en hellig strand med mange ritualer. Hotellet kan anbefales.

The location is great, we can watch daily activities of the beach from our room. The lift has a damp smell though. The breakfast was good. Nice selection of Indian dishes and fresh fruits. We had lunch here once, the food is quite good.

Great service and exciting environment
It was nice with some affordable luxury . The staff were always friendly and attentive. Great with an ayurvedic spa on sight. Our executive room was big and had a balcony, even though it for us was nice with AC for once. But to sit in our room or by the pool watching the pilgrims and the people praying from early morning was interesting. The beach is nice, and it is good that the hotel is a copule of minutes away from the more shopping/restaurant area of North Cliff. You can go there for dinner with a torch but you don't have to.

Das Hotel war sicher, als es neu war, sehr toll.Leider wird es sehr schlecht gewartet. Am Eingang fehlt der Türgriff, die Fenster schließen nicht mehr etc. Trotzdem ist es im Vergleich zu den anderen Häusern am Strand sehr teuer.

Gods own country and a nice hotel.. what else i can think :) had a good time but the beach was not that live as we went during off season... still it was exciting and comfortable.. will plan during next season to experiance the real Varkala....

Fully functional
A fairly rated 3.5 star hotel. We stayed on a B & B basis only and were out and about most of the time so did not make use of any of the facilities on offer. Perfect for couples who just want a place to sleep and keep their luggage

very clean Hotel, will go back
Stayed in this Hotel two nights 17th Nov 2011. The hotel is only 6 years old. The staff is very freindly, The room was more a kind of a suite, very spacious and at night it was bsolutely quiet. Some construction was going on next door which I did not notice not beeing in the hotel during the day. The pool area was extremely clean. The Jaccuzzi like little round pool turned out to be the pool for the toddlers which was the only tiny deception for me. Very nice Restaurant on top with excellent food. Although the price is in the upper segment of the hotels I usually stay, I think the value we get is very fair. Just a few steps away from the beach, excellent location.

Strandnära hotell med hög standard som överträffade förväntningarna. Mycket hög servicekänsla hos personalen. Restaurang med varierad matsedel och med en utsikt över havet som var en fantastisk upplevelse. Hit åker vi gärna igen.
