"We enjoyed our stay. We paid a bit more for the balcony room with panoramic view and balcony. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfy. The balcony was small and dated but fine to sit out on for a drink. We had breakfast once which was nice. The pool is good for a refreshing dip but does get v busy at certain times. The restaurant we ate at twice and was pleasant both times. The surrounding grounds are lovely and the games provided are excellent for kids and adults. Good access for people in wheelchairs."
"The Logis du Parvis is directly opposite the front of the cathedral, and could hardly be in a better place to explore old Laon town. While access is a little tricky if driving directly, there is free public parking at Remparts du Nord just a minutes walk away.
The room itself was very attractive, nicely decorated but with beams exposed in the ceiling. The plumbing was faultless, and a proper thermostatic mixer tap for the shower was so much better than we usually find in France. There was no air conditioning in the room, but there was a fan provided that was quiet enough to run without disturbing our sleep but effective enough to keep us comfortable. The windows didn't fully open in our room due to the blinds fitted, but in cooler weather that would not have been obvious.
We ate in the restaurant for all our meals out of choice, enjoying our food there very much. Breakfast was a normal light continental with fresh bread, ham and cheese (non-meat option likely available) croissants and pains au chocolat, coffee and choice of fruit juices.
Staff were always friendly and helpful. We want to especially recognise Julia, who was incredibly hard working and yet always cheerful."
"Convenient stopover stay travelling down to Southern Europe. Friendly staff and v reasonable price. Restaurants nearby and Laon old town is worth looking around although up 200+ steps."
"We booked this hotel, last minute for a one night stop off on our way home after a few weeks travelling through Europe and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
We booked a classic room (cheapest) and it was superb, the AC worked very well in the heat, the room was huge with a seating area, great bathroom and separate toilet.
We didn’t use the spa but the pool was quiet and very welcoming after a long drive.
The staff all deserve a mention as the service is second to none but the highlight was the evening meal in the restaurant, we had planned to eat on the bistro as we thought the food in the main Michelin guide restaurant would be a bit fancy for us (we love good food but aren’t reay foodies) but as this wasn’t an option due to the bistro being closed we gave it a go and we’re glad we did as it was fantastic. We ended up having a main course and dessert each but this was accompanied by an amous bouche (thinks that’s how you spell it!), a huge hunk of bread and a pallet cleanser between courses, the wine list is extensive and way over my head but we managed to find a lovely bottle of Puilly fuilles to suit our taste and budget!!
I should also mention that the restaurant terrace is beautiful especially when the sun go s down and the lights are on.
Anyway, to summarise - great hotel, fabulous staff and restaurant!!"
