"This was a basic room but very clean and the staff was very friendly. We had accidentally booked a smoking room but the staff immediately caught that and asked if we needed to switch. The National Military Park was just minutes away as well as downtown Vicksburg and grocery stores. "

As for the hotel, it definitely needs a lot of upgrades and upkeep. The AC wasn't working and we didn't sleep well because of it. The bathroom was kind of dirty as well and there was no toilet paper . "

"This 1840 mansion is beautiful. We stayed in the Grant Suite where 70% of the furnishings were original. It sent shivers up my spine to know we slept in General Ulysses Grant's bed. I wish we had been there for a meal. The dining room and menu were inviting. All was perfect except the entry. They need to make it a little wider. It's on a hill and hard to see the driveway over the crest, especially after dark."
