Regular Transit Stop

I use the Hotel De l'Abbaye as a regular night stop in transit through France. It is a hotel with "character" - a bit shabby and rough around the edges, but nonetheless comfortable and with a decent restaurant. I will stay again.

Excellent place for a stopover

I do not understand why some people have given this hotel such negative reviews in the past. We loved it. It was a typical quirky French country hotel, very convenient to find from the motorway, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The rooms were basic but clean and everything worked. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which was patronised by lots of local families - a very good sign. It houses a collection of vintage bikes. We stayed on a Saturday night but experienced no noise from the main road. It is located next to the Abbey of Clairvaux which is worth a visit and not far from the village of Colombey Les Deux Eglises where De Gaule is buried which is also interesting. Makes such a change from stopovers in budget chain hotels.

Little french gem

What a little gem. Friendly, comfortable, great food, peaceful and well placed for an off route stop on our way to Geneva. Great food, comfortable bed and room.

We stopped here overnight from a long drive. The bed was comfortable enough and the location was very near the highway. The building does need some updating. Breakfast was ok but 11 euro each for a piece of bread, croissant and a brownie with orange juice is a little pricey.

VERY BASIC AND VERY LITTLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. FOR EXAMPLE, THE SHOWER IN THE BATH-TUB HAD NO HOOK ON THE WALL, IF YOU WANTED TO TAKE A NORMAL SHOWER, PLUS, ONLY 3 MINISCULE SACHETS OF SHOWER GEL. NO RUGS ON THE (HARD) FLOOR OF THE BEDROOM. TEA-MAKING FACILITIES VERY POOR - 2 MINT-TEA TEA BAGS, 2 SACHETS OF INSTANT COFFEE 2 SACHETS OF SUGAR. TOILET FLUSH SYSTEM VERY NOISY. NO LIFT, - (NOT MENTIONED IN THE ONLINE {EXPEDIA} ADVERT). THEREFORE, 2 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES. LOOKED LOVELY IN THE PHOTO'S, - BUT, FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A TRAVEL-LODGE ROOM (IN ASHFORD, KENT), THE PREVIOUS NIGHT, - NO COMPARISON, - EVEN WHEN ALLOWING FOR AN INDEPENDANT HOTEL, AS COMPARED TO AN HOTEL CHAIN.

Un cadre ancien fort agréable. Le personnel est souriant et avenant. L’établissement est calme. ATTENTION à deux choses néanmoins 1/ l’adresse est à Clairevaux et non Ville-sous- la-Ferté. 2/ déconseillé aux personnes à mobilité réduite : pas d’ascenseur et des escaliers très pentus !

Como lado positivo me gustaría destacar la amplitud de la habitación, la amabilidad de la recepcionista y la comodidad que proporciona la habitación. En el lado negativo está el wifi, que es muy débil y a veces inexistente, y para aquellos con dificultades de movilidad, las escaleras para acceder a las habitaciones.
