"Very pleasant and helpful staff"

"I really like this hotel, and would suggest it to anyone visiting from overseas as a good example of how things used to be done. The building is older and has all the quirkiness that comes with that. The room I had was reasonably spacious and well appointed, very clean, nothing to really pick fault with. The common areas downstairs are traditionally decorated, well maintained, and display the history of the location well. They are warm and inviting. The real thing about this hotel is that the service element is still there, from reception, to the bar and into the restaurant. Staff are plentiful and attentive, and it all adds up to a very civilised experience. I ate in the restaurant and the food was good, with a decent wine list. The room price is reasonable and the restaurant price is possibly at the high end, but the quality is there and the service and overall vibe made it worthwhile for me. It's all a little posh, but in no way stuck up."

"We had a lovely walk to the village and mill.then had dinnner in the restaurant which was reasonably priced ans delicious. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Would definitely stay again."

"First time at this hotel, staying for one night. A quick visit to Tiverton on the way home from a few days in Bideford to see the Grand Western Canal and assess the potential for a future longer visit. Overall, facilities, food and staff excellent, decor a little tired. Free parking on site a major advantage. Room comfortable, but no USB ports provided to charge phones etc. However, will definitely consider coming back at a later date. "

"Great location with several bars & restaurants within a short walk, parking just a short walk away from 5pm to 9am. Room was clean & bathroom spacious a good large shower cubical. Breakfast was freshly cooked & very nice to start the day with. When back in area will be on my list to stay again. "
