"TWO PREMIER INN’S AT GATWICK... THIS IS THE OLDER ONE
Upon arrival at Gatwick for an overnight stay and a morning flight, I discovered that this hotel is a further 500 metre walk outside the airport than the newer one (North Terminal) located at the exit of the airport. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s but it’s partly uphill along gravel footpaths. Thankfully, I was able to wait in the newer one until check in time.
The first room assigned to me had a defective TV, the second had a terrible, mouldy smell, however, the third was fine (shades of Goldilocks). The fabulous Paulina – who schlepped my large bag between these rooms – comped my breakfast for the inconvenience… great customer service can make up for most things.
The room was large with a chaise longue that I used as a luggage rack for both my open suitcases. The bed was very comfortable but with lumpy, hollow-fill pillows, so I used my travel pillow. There was a kettle, with tea & coffee, but no fridge. The bathroom with a rain-shower over bath was very good and had lovely bulk toiletries.
I had a comfortable night and the breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold choices. Having said that, I think £13.99 is a little steep, unless you have hollow legs and keep going back. I certainly didn’t do it justice but was grateful for the comp. Overall a comfortable stay in an aging hotel with excellent staff."
