"We had a wonderful stay at El Faro. The location was perfect for our family. The beach and Manuel Antonio National Park are very close. The view from our balcony was amazing. We knew about climbing the hill beforehand and really didn’t think it was that bad (our ages were 58, 49, 48, 46, 15, 14, 12, and 11). "The breakfast was great, it was nice to be able to use the pools of the sister hotel. The apartment was very spacious and had everything we needed for a great stay. "

"The staff (Daniella in particular) was so very accommodating; they helped us greatly with scheduling tours; arranging transportation; suggestions for dining. The hotel itself was very uniquely designed compared to hotels in the US. Monkeys joining us for breakfast was an unanticipated treat."

"The view from the balcony is amazing. The dorm bed was comfortable, toilet facilities were great. Kitchen was good as well although could use new kitchen utensils/pots/pans as what was available were quite destroyed/melted. Overall great dorm!"

Those bathrooms/showers are shared by all in the hostel, including those with private rooms (which was fine, never had to wait to use facilities). "This is a really nice place. The directions on Expedia stated check-in was required before 6 p.m. the staff was very flexible for our 8:30 p.m. check-in. The place was a little hard to find and required a 4x4 to get up a big hill. The property staff escorted us, which was extremely helpful. I would recommend this place if you want an adventure."
