"My Expedia booking, made 10 mths ago, was not in their computer system. I had to book a room at higher rate on the spot. I was asked many "silly" questions about my booking by two staff members for 10' until the front office manager appeared to tell me it was their new system that "forgot" about my Expedia booking which he entered manually. "We were in the city to visit a friend, so we just wanted something cheap. The hotel staff tried to be helpful, but didn't speak a word of English, the buidling felt like it was coming apart at the seems, the room was OK but not super clean, bed rock hard (but hey, it's China) and the neighbourhood not super appealing. It didn't help that there was work being done on the sewage system just outside the hotel. Other than that, it is an easy walk to the river/canal, which is really nice! Quick walk...
