"Colin and the Dumfries Villa was an absolutely delight! It was such an easy walk from the train station, incredibly convenient! Colin made us feel like we were family-the villa was quiet and peaceful, the room was perfect! As two traveling women, we felt incredibly safe and cared for. Colin also let us know about all the wonderful sites to see in town and gave us a map to be able to get around easily. The breakfast was a true/traditional Scottish breakfast, made to personal preferences, by Colin himself! I will definitely be staying here again if I ever happen to be in the Dumfries area in the future! Thanks so much, Colin!"

"This is an excellent b&b,we stayed in the annex(Huntington suite).A very well decorated and furnished annex.It was very quiet and the room was very well heated if you wanted it and had a fan. The bed was very comfortable and clean.The bathroom was great with low level walk in shower. Please be careful when showering as water does get onto the floor past the screen and the floor can be slippery.A good tv and comfortable couch and chair. A very spacious room and I highly recommend this place. Breakfast is served in the main house and is very worthwhile.All the staff are very friendly and helpful.We will be back."

"The room was lovely but the sink in the en-suite was tiny & hard to get a wash or clean your teeth in without getting water everywhere. The front of the sink unit was already water damaged. The shower was good & easy to use. The lady who greeted us was very helpful & friendly especially as we forgot to take our key out with us & had to ask her to let us in to our room. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for her. There was a good choice for breakfast which was cooked to order"

"The hotel is very nice, with lovely rooms and beautiful surroundings. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, although they often had to juggle multiple roles at once, which sometimes made them difficult to find. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay, and if I return to Castle Douglas, I would happily stay here again."

"My friend and I spent Wednesday night there, and received a VERY friendly welcome from a nice lady at the reception desk. Unfortunately, there are no lifts and the stairs are rather steep and spiral too, which as two elderly men with walking sticks we found quite hazardous with our luggage. When we got to our room, which was on the first floor, the light in the shower room and loo was broken, resulting in complete darkness with the door shut. I went back and spoke to the lady who had welcomed us and her surprise at the light not working seemed 100% genuine and she apologised profusely and said she would "get it fixed". Then she very quickly and efficiently got us moved to another room, also on the first floor, which was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and friendliness but disabled people need to be aware of the stairs."
