"The staff on checking in weren’t too friendly and rushed through all details - we had to ask to repeat some details. He didn’t know we had pre-paid for buffet breakfast so had to find details of booking to show him. The staff on in the morning were totally different; very friendly and helpful. "Whilst the staff are friendly and the restaurant and bar are nice, the room and the nights stay are something else . It doesn't bother me that they are dated and basic.....but, the smell of dirty toilet and damp was probably a little much. Not to mention an early wake up call with what sounded like a continuous rattling washing machine on high spin which went on for most of the morning. I never complain, unless I really have to....and this is one of those times "

"The hotel is old (but interesting) and needs a lick of paint here and there but the room was very clean. Bathroom with shower very good. Very nice double bed too. Breakfast was buffet style, was good though no fruit. No problem with Wi-Fi. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Excellent location for eateries and seeing old Southampton. Good value and would stay there again. "

"Check in was easy and the staff were amazing during my entire stay. I stayed in a single room, the room was surprisingly spacious and well laid out and had a decent sized bathroom. Couple of things to note: Room was on the third floor, there is no elevator. Not too much of a problem as the stairs are not steep or narrow. "Great location in the heart of Salisbury. An historic old inn where you could stay in the room which Lord Nelson once stayed in. "The room was not very clean, the flooring was all uneven, no toilet paper in the toilet. The bar area was very cold, no Vodka stocked in the bar. Reception staff were wonderful very welcoming. The whole place is very dated needs decorating throughout and all the flooring needs replacing. The shower was terrible you had to hold the head whilst showering or the water went everywhere. The grounds were quite beautiful."
