"We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Ascott Gurney Penang. The hotel offers great amenities, the rooms are comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing.

"We had high hopes when we arrived at Shangri-la Golden Sands and the staff were nothing but polite, pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. However, we quickly noticed that our bathrooms weren’t the cleanest - there strands of hair everywhere and a slight smell of sewer. There were plumbing issues - which the hotel fixed upon request. The dinner buffet was very mediocre and somewhat disappointing- only because I associated Shangri-la with better buffet food."
