"This place is truly unique. We were met at reception and shown to the breakfast room and various lounges, then to our room. All had spectacular views. There are tea and coffee making facilities in a kitchen area (as well as in the room) and an honesty bar. All are decorated to a 5-star standard. "This place is truly special. The enjoyment begins the minute you walk in and meet the lovely staff. The room itself was perfect-spotlessly clean and totally comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and it was a truly incredible meal. To top off the delicious food, the chef himself came out to introduce himself afterwards so we were able to learn about where all those ingredients came from (all local and totally fresh). "The Mansion House was a very pleasant place to spend our few days in South Wales. The hotel and grounds were kept beautifully and the views over the estuary are just stunning .Breakfasting and dining were of a high standard and from our experience of 5* hotels , deserving of their rating. Our room was very pleasant ,though a “proper”wardrobe would have been appreciated.

"We arrived to no one around and after walking around the property finally saw an envelope with our name on it and our key. Our room smelt moldy and damp. The carpet was dirty and the walls were peeling. The beds were very uncomfortable. It was shocking to see after such a high rating. The yard was unkempt and there was a general air of neglect about the whole place. "
