"Location, location, location! Request a room with a view of the Mississippi and watch the barges pass by your room, or walk the path right along the river. Conveniently located for walking everywhere or catching the sightseeing bus tour. The room was spotless, and the staff member who checked me in at around 10 pm was extremely friendly. The air conditioning in the room was excellent. The water pressure in the sink and shower was great. The citrus soap provided was so amazing that I ordered some from the soap company and had it sent to my house. Breakfast was a fresh & satisfying start to the day; nothing too fancy and definitely filling."

"The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was lovely. Love the room, tho it seemed like it hadn’t been used in a while. The jacuzzi tub didn’t work but worked as a regular tub, nonetheless. Parking was not good. The reason for not having 5 stars is parking. Only 2 parking spots to be used on the street. The driveway on the property only has room for 2 cars. The place has 4 guest rooms. We had to park behind someone, but was asked several times to move & let them out. Or we had to keep checking to see if one of the 2 spots was vacant on the street. When booking I thought parking was available. I think that was not made clear. Overall, I would & plan to book again. Thanks Deauveraux Shields House"
