"This was definitely a game of two halves. So the hotel is an ugly concrete bunker from outside but inside it is beautifully decorated and modern.The room and bed were large and comfy but sparsely furnished and the windows were tiny so the rooms are quite dark. Soundproofing is non existent. Despite being a couple of rooms away from the lifts you could hear them whining and screeching all day and night. The only way to drown out the noise was to have the loud air conditioning on in the room The pool area is a definite highlight, large and warm pool and lots of sunbed areas. The indoor pool and gym looked nice as well. The food in the restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast was also good,nicely presented with a wide choice. With the exception of a couple of standout staff members (the main waitress with glasses in the restaurant was incredibly friendly and helpful and efficient), the service was incredibly poor at times. Either there was no staff in the bar and you had to seek them out or there were four all talking together and avoiding eye contact. Spacious parking was available inside and outside. Lamego is walking distance,about 15 minutes, mostly flat. Unfortunately Lamego is not a pretty town to stay in,full of ugly concrete apartment blocks and run down older buildings. The sanctuary was definitely worth a visit but I wish we'd just done a day visit instead of staying overnight in Lamego."

"Everything was amazing. Staff was cooperative. View was fantastic. Rooms were clean. Restaurant was great. Very nice food. Only one draw back was Expedia did not mentioned in room description that there were 80 + steps to climb to go to family rooms. But staff helped us go up and down in golf cart which they said they do not do normally. I would come again for view and great service they provided. My therapeutical massage was cherry on top. Overall great experience. Relaxed and enjoyed this property."

We truly felt like valued guests and and the hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was savory and the option to eat outdoors made for an excellent dining experience."

"Nestled in the heart of the Duoro Valley, we had a wonderful stay at Casa Dona Edite and were blown away by the kindness and hospitality of the family that runs this place. They made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The views of the Douro Valley vineyards and hills were stunning, and we especially loved the family-style dinners, where we met so many interesting people. Breakfast was excellent, with delicious homemade offerings each morning. The amenities were modern and spotless, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and spending time with the friendly family dog. The family-made 25 year old port wine was also fantastic and a highlight of our stay. Transfers to and from Pinhão were easy and convenient. Casa Dona Edite offers a warm, authentic Douro Valley experience, and we would happily return. Thank you for the lovely stay!"

"What a gorgeous property. Spa options are amazing. The wine and port tasting was top-notch. With only one night, we really did not get to experience all of it. I would recommend at least two. Coming in September or October during the winemaking season would be fantastic. The staff was extremely polite and knowledgeable and helpful"

"Beautiful property in a great location. People working there are very kind and accommodating. Decent breakfast and they have a small selection of items for dinner. Mostly salads and sandwiches but it’s all very tasty with a beautiful sunset view of the mountains."
